My post don't seem to be effective either. I wonder if we can get Dave to give is a shout out when he does the drawing for the Sept NARR?

I hate to say it but I don't think posting on NGA will do much good. I suspect the biggest problem is that people want targeted swaps. Daylily people want a daylily seed swap. Same for Iris and other plants.

When people read all seeds they think of a bunch of people swapping cheap marigold seeds and things like that. I don't think they bother to look at the swap lists to see what is actually offered.

Tmailing someone you think might be interested and describing what types of seeds are typically offered may be a better strategy.

Well, that's kind of how I do it Dnd. I keep an eye out for someone that wants to trade like us instead of just one particular thing. I try to explain what we do and how we are. Usually, they are happy because it's their first time. I spend the time with them. I want them to have as much fun as we do.

Jim I've never grown hibiscus. I don't think it's hardy this far North. I can't bring it inside for the winter because my cats just love to eat plants! I really miss being able to have houseplants. I start my seeds in one tiny room that has grow lights that the cats aren't allowed in. Except for a couple of African Violets I can't fit anything but seedlings under the lights. Sad

Elena The one I am talking about is an annual , I have never seen it over eight or nine inches tall it is a smaller late season wildflower A large full bloom gets about the size of the Pansy bloom , Not always that large ,
You were typing , talking earlier about annuals for pots ,
It has a leaf that is ridged like rounded off feverfew or skinny lettuce ..

It shows up here off and on dry sunny places , august sept it,shows and blooms
any way Hibiscus Trionum , take look when you get a chance ,,

It's cute! I've heard of the common name but have never seen one in person. I may have it in the garden but with the leaves looking like that I probably pull it up before it blooms. Hard to believe it is a hibiscus.

I'm sitting here pulling out potential swap seeds. Once I'm done I'll check them against the plant database. That will help me decide which ones to list. Then I can start packaging seeds and adding growing info to the database.

Despite my asking for annuals I seem to keep planting more perennials every year. Most of them don't seem to survive the winter. I need to add to the database which are tender perennials.

Elena I have an african Foxglove , annual , that is two seasons old now , seems to be the opposite here Annuals becoming perennial ,
Mostly I try to grow perennials , try , attempt , effort to do , is exactly . I have been better at it for sure ,
I had a calendula that returned a few seasons here for a while
I have a dozen seeds or so to add . Some that are purchased will not be as many as I would like to offer , I have a lot of small perennials I am hoping for ,
Some I am doing are started in spring , others I simply forget how , usually though I get there
strange year still , my giant Marigolds are setting with bloom buds ,but not a one has bloomed , never had happened before ,

Jim I had calendula but it won't come back for me. How big is the African Foxglove? It looks huge! I don't trust what seed packs say anymore. My dwarf dahlia is way bigger than it should be. The ones planted in a container are the right size though.

I still can't tell if my dahlias are making seed. They are the slowest things I've ever seen! I'm going to try to save the tubers for some of them. Let's see if I can remember to plant them next year!

Elena It is lanky growing away from the sun , upright it would be a good 4 ft , Drifts lanky 2 to 3ft .. Some places like the penstemon it is actually a small shrub eventually Best way to describe that is like a garden Basil
I am placing a few plants from last years wintersowing , Tags are knocked out or never were there , A few milkweeds , an echinacea or two .. a Rudbeckia of some kind , I have a general idea of what will bloom but color scaping went out the window ,

Elena -- calendula doesn't come back for you? Maybe you are doing too thorough a job of deadheading? I had a bunch of it sprout this year from the plants that I grew last year, and right now I have sprouts from THIS year's plants. It seems to be pretty much as enthusiastic in my garden as dill is! Hilarious!

I deadheaded only to the point of taking the dried flower heads and sprinkling the seed around. I did save some seeds though. For whatever reason a lot of perennials don't survive my winter/spring. This year was especially bad. Sad
