I think that must be it, Lin. We have them in Phoenix where it's horribly hot and very dry all the time. They do fine and bloom very well after the few rains we get. I love the idea of growing morning glories under the bush! That's a beautiful photo!
Karen. Those Grandpa Ott's are actually growing in a pot of yellow Daisies that is sitting next to the Texas Ranger, so it had to do a bit of stretching till it actually attached itself to the bush. Was kind of a surprise to me. I had nothing to do with it.

In the past, I've found Tall Morning Glory (Ipomoea purpurea 'Grandpa Ott') seeds at Home Depot and Lowes and they always germinate and grow very quickly! A few years ago I just threw some on the ground beneath a palm tree with some others and they took off and were so pretty climbing the palm. I'm going to look for a picture but I think I lost them when my computer crashed a couple of years ago.

Karen they are not allowed to sell the seeds in Arizona. Cannot remember how I got these seeds. Right now I do not have any seeds, waiting till they produce some.

Karen I will make a note to myself, if I get enough seeds I would be glad to send you some. Sometimes the seed pops all over before I notice and I do not get much of a harvest which is why I have this interesting growth now in the front yard.
