Well we have 6 days of it predicted over the next 10 days, so if I had my way, you could have it all! But I don't get my way. Hilarious!

Just looked at Accuweather... no hint of rain for over a MONTH... not until the end of October... and then only a couple of days projected... Sad

(I decided that discretion was the better part of valor, and not to go up to the Sierra for hiking this year. Last year the low water levels in the lakes were horrifying... I was hoping to see the lakes in better condition this year; now I am worrying about what kind of rain, if any, we (and the Sierra) get this season.)
Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom

My plants are falling over from lack of rain, will need to drag that hose around today. I was hoping it would rain, because we have a nice cloud cover, but not a drop in the forecast, so better get to it... Sighing!

My method of labelling is different but it works for me. I wanted something that would last, cheap, not easily knocked out or frost heaved, easily read, low to the ground and vertical. I use the touch labeller also. The labeller is cheap but the replacement tapes are not so I change the menu on it to give me the least amount of border. I still need to trim the edges but not as much. I print the label and stick it to a reclaimed stainless steel dinner knife blade. The prices of these vary depending on the store but I have found second hand stores where I can purchase for about .10 cents each. I push the handle of the knife into the ground and, for most, that is about 4 inches. At this point, I have about 300 around my gardens, mainly for the daylilies but also some irises. They have been through 2 winters already. I have tried different methods for labelling but this has been the best solution so far. Plus, when I am no longer gardening, the metal can be recycled. Great idea! Thank You! It will have to be very dull ones in my garden to protect the dog's paws, but that it definitely doable! Thumbs up

Thanks, all. My dogs are not diggers and rarely go into my flower beds. The veg garden--well, that's food so a different story!!

Besides which, usually the dinner knives are the cheap ones to start so not sharp.

It occurred to me after seeing the suggestion that it might work if you got bread and butter knives that have a flatter handle. Then you could push the blade into the ground and put the label on the handle instead.

I use the Kincaid markers and the UV resistant tape for the Ptouch, found you can get a good deal on the Brother Ptouch through Costco.

I use the black on clear UV tape found at one of the other "office "stores.

Welcome! RJ, I don't think I've seen you on here before. Do you have irises? If not we'll fix that on here. Hilarious!
