Hi Libby,
It's one of my seedlings. What do you think?

@Pistil I'll come over here for the off-topic! It's always exciting to wax rhapsodic about local nurseries. Sky is really close to my house so for some reason my car keeps taking me there. It must be confused about where "home" is. Whistling I had the same problem when I had a standing appointment in Lynnwood years ago - I went to Wight's every week for ages! I haven't been in a long time and actually pretty much forgot about it till now. I tend to stay very close to home (mobility issues that conflict with sitting in a car for very long) so my circle is pretty limited to Sky, Lowe's and Home Depot.

But that's one of the greatest thing ever about growing things from seed - I can do it right at home. :D Right now I'm mothering about two dozen fuchsia arborescens. ...Are you SURE you don't do container plants? Because, you should go look at pictures of it. It's not hardy to this zone so it needs pampering in the winter, but I could not say no to it. It's gonna be a long time before they're old enough to give me their own seeds, but when they do you can bet I'll be back here to share. Big Grin

This is some of them a few weeks ago:

And this is more of them the other day (SO much bigger already!):

I don't think I'll be sending out another email until tomorrow, so I wanted to send a little shout-out and welcome our two newest members!:
@Annismyname and @joannakat

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!

If either of you need any assistance, please don't hesitate to ask! I am always happy to help and we have a bunch of seasoned ( Rolling my eyes. Big Grin ) seed swap veterans in here that are great tutors as well!

@xoxomonisia - I saw your comment in the other thread and it looked like you were hoping to join the swap...? If so, please make sure to do so today, if possible, so that you can start getting your seeds entered in and be ready for trading time tomorrow. Let us know if you need help. There is also a video you can watch for how to get yourself set up once you've joined the swap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Karen, I contemplated bumping it to 5 because we have over 30 members, but there are at least a few people that haven't added their seeds yet, so for now I'm going to keep it at 4 tickets. I might take another look at it tomorrow before the swap and make a final determination then.

@lalampchop1 I stand corrected about the Victory Seeds....the seeds themselves are actually in a 2-3 mil 2" x 3" bag inside of the paper envelope. I like that. I think I would definitely order from Victory Seeds again!

I flip back and forth between wanting a THICK ZipLoc "to keep the humidity constant", and a thinner ZipLoc with wimpy zipper so that any water exhaled from seeds can diffuse out more easily.

I'm starting to suspect that the difference only shows up after 4-8 years of storage. And we would have to do a careful measurement of germination rates under controlled conditi9ns to be sure of which one was better.

But I'm going to continue keeping my seeds as dry as my laziness in replacing silica gel packets allows!

LoL, Lisa! The first few minutes are important moments in the swap! I know last time one of our members (who is in the swap again this time around) put off a birthday dinner for a family member in order to make sure they were present when trading began. There was another member who was going to go out for a nice dinner with hubby, but had to put that off until after her dibbing was done.

We're serious about our seeds in here! nodding

I was done in less than 2 mins.

Libby, are we going to get 5 tickets every day?
