Wow, I really like the mottles one Kevin. I find it very interesting with that lovely blue background.
I love when the spines on the heuffs are such a standout contrast to the rest of the leaf. Very nice.
Better day for photography today. Good diffuse light.
There's a better shot of the mottled one plus some of the other sister seedlings. I was expecting the intense colors from Heart of Darkness but some of the patterns I was not expecting. These are inbred though so you do begin to see recessive traits popping up.
Also a much better picture of the shark's tooth heuff seedling too.
Am glad you liked the kids. This is just the tip of the iceberg too. Can't wait for you to see them in person. The one in the clump shot has ~8" rosettes so it's very showy. Also an excellent increaser so it could go on the market quicker.
Things are progressing on the clinic. The Red Lion should have the rooms set up shortly. Need to check meal choices for the banquet. Robert's have a couple new additions to the menu that I thought I would check. Although I think everyone was pleased with the variety of selections last year, I may change them a bit just so we have some variety.
I hear you. The Chicken Saltimboco is one of my favorites and it's one I pick when I don't know exactly what I want. Always a good choice. I was there about 3 weeks ago and the waitress was high on another one of the new dishes so I need to go back and sample for myself! Such a tough assignment!
I will try to get some new photos of some of my seedlings this afternoon. They are growing, and the over abundance of rain does not seem to bother them. A good sign.
Okay, I got a few seedling photos.
This heuff is showing really great color for this time of year. I'll have to walk around the beds to see if there is anything else that has this coloring right now.
Bloody Mary seedlings.
Lucy Liu seedlings. They all seem to have cilia and tufting at the tips of the leaves. A variety of colors present.
Michael's Golden seedlings seem to be all over the place in colors, size and shape. It was pollinated with a number of different cultivars.
Persephone is another one that I used multiple cultivars on, 'Othello', 'Michael's Golden' and 'Grunrand'. Lots of different things showing in the seedlings for color, shape and size.
Here we are in December, after some pretty cold weather for us in the Willamette Valley PNW. Even had snow cover for about a week. All the ice and snow is gone now. Just had to check on the tiny seedlings to see how they fared while I was gone to Virginia.
They all looked healthy, and some are really showing some color.
Here are a few of the 'Bloody Mary' seedlings. The bright red one is looking interesting. I checked on the parent plant (Bloody Mary) to see what it's coloring looks like today. Rather dull in color right now. Looks like this seedling might have better coloring that it's parent. Keeping fingers crossed.
Next is the 'Michael's Golden' seedlings. Some interesting individuals among the many seedlings. All three of these are showing much better coloring than the parent plant at this time of year. Right now 'Michael's Golden' is very plain green.
Waiting to see what these babies do in the next year.
The 'Persephone' seedlings are all over the map on form and color. But I did use 3 or 4 different pollen parents for this cross. 'Michael's Golden', 'Othello', 'Honigmond' and one or two others.
Very interesting; I like the 3rd pic of Michael's Golden seedling with the slight cilia-fringed outer edges
Looks like the seedling bed is getting bigger and bigger? Lynn, you not only are caring/monitoring your seedlings but a few here and there of other people's seedlings?
