The "action icons" (meaning, the icons that create a drop down when you click on them) are not intended to be right clicked on. The fix is I should disable the right-click dialog on all those icons.

It's just the ones without drop-down menus (mail and messages) that are refusing to open the link in a new tab. Could the problem be solved by adding a drop-down menu to those two icons?

Oh, never mind. Don't change anything, please. I see what Krobra means. If I left-click, I'm not taken to the main tree-mail page. I'm taken to a menu that can be right-clicked to open in a new tab. Thank you, Kurt, for that explanation.

In fact, please leave the right-click option available. Sometimes I want a duplicate of the current page.

Right, I meant to say those icons are action icons that open a dialog box, not a drop down.

But... I still might disable the right-click on them, for UI sake.

Okay. I can always use Sea Monkey as my browser on the days I want to open duplicate pages. It's the closest thing to the old Netscape, which had useful options the new browsers don't have. Smiling

There seems to be a problem with the Forums List since I last visited NGA earlier today. The "new" , "who" and "last post" columns are not populated, all I have is the forum name and it to the left under "new". This is in the alphabetical/categories forums list, not the 100 forums on the home page one.

Edited to add - this is on iPad and I just discovered that if I close the bookmarks navigation on the left side so that the forums list is not compressed to the right, the columns become populated again. Re-open the bookmarks list and they disappear again.

Hi plantmanager! Thanks! I found the Southwestern site and I had put the banner on all my pages yesterday. Isn't it great to look forward to what's going to banner the site? Thanks for the heads up!

Hi Bonnie, what's even more fun is to follow the instructions on how to make a banner, and submit your own pictures for it. Your first banner is such a thrill, and it never gets old. Give it a try!

YAY I finally took the time to customize the site view and it was SO easy! I'm usually on iphone or tablet so all I had to do was haul out the laptop and drag a few items. Very easy. And it improves the view on iphone because I don't have to scroll down to find threads each time. Thanks Dave! Customizing is brilliant since many people use this site in different ways.

@dave is brilliant and so polite. (But what's behind that smiling avatar?)

@zuzu - what the heck is Sea Monkey? Great name whatever it is or was.

Hi Joan, I think that Dave said he had an artist making drawings of the family to use as avatars.

First off, like the redesign, especially as customized. Two questions (likely both for @Dave):

About the NGA logos on the top left... one reads "The" NGA, and the other just NGA. Which is correct? (Background: I ask because when I came to my church it took some unraveling to find out if it were The First Congregational Church or just First Congregational, plus it is nice to know the proper name.)

The second is: Would be possible to make the banners clickable, so that one can go directly to the site banner page with the identification of the plant and the author? I have opted for them to show daily, and continue to enjoy them. (oh, and yes I know the long way in through the site banner forum page)

Thanks.

Hi Sean,

First, the banners can't be clickable. Well, technically they could, but that's outside of my UI design for the site.

Now as for the "the" before NGA, it depends on the context of where it's used. If you're saying "NGA" then typically you'd leave off the "the". But if you're saying it all together, you'd say "the" National Gardening Association. (But not everyone follows that.)

I left it off the header primarily because of space limitations.

Sean ( @Whitebeard ), although the banners aren't clickable there's a link way down at the bottom of the home page (just below the logo) to take you directly to that day's banner info. Smiling

Thanks for the replies. I'll look for the other link to banners on the home page. I'm not 100% clear about the name. Is the official name of the corporation without the "The"? Consider: "This information is provided by National Gardening Association" vs. "This information is provided by The National Gardening Association."

The official name is "National Gardening Association" and that's what our trademark is.
