On my Android phone I have to scroll horizontally to the far right, tap the envelope icon. That takes me to Your Mail where I select Access your full Tree-Mail inbox or Compose new mail. If I select Access it takes me to my inbox and on the right of that the Tree-Mail list are options to compose a new mail, and the folders including drafts, plus manage folders.

I do need to scroll horizontally to the right quite a way to get to the options though.

Edited to add I just checked and the above is when I select show desktop site. When I go back to mobile I have the same issue you're both mentioning, Jeanie and James.

foraygardengirl said:Thanks, but the drafts folder does not show on my mobile phone, even though I had saved an email to drafts. Same with sent emails. That is actually why I was trying to find it. If it makes a difference, I am using an Android phone. It does show up fine on my PC.

It's the weekend so hopefully @dave will pop in sometime to help.

Tap the little box with an arrow and that brings up the menu then select Request Desktop Site. The same icon you'd use for bookmarks, cut and paste etc. It's part of the iPhone navigation rather than this site although we used to have the option in NGA until the change. I didn't find requesting desktop worked as well with the iPod (same ios as iPhone) as it does on my Android phone though.

Edited, sigh, I keep making typos today

Thanks Sue, I did that but nothing changed, and nothing is different in the mailbox, no scrolling to see anything.

There is no "desktop site" option on my droid (galaxy s7 edge). Also, no option to scroll right on the page--Everything is formatted to fit page.

Joan, are you trying to figure out who sent acorns to you, and how many they sent? Please forgive me if you have mentioned doing this, because I'm too lazy to go back and search, but have you seen the System Messages when you receive one or more? Those would be under the bell at the top right of the screen, which will turn red when you have a message. That is the only place that I'm aware of that will tell you how many acorns someone sent you. The Recent Acorn Tips will only show you that an acorn was given, but not how many were given by one person. I think there is also a way to view your System Messages on your home page, but I haven't looked into that.

No, it uses the Samsung Browser like most Samsung devices. I believe it has chrome as an option already pre-downloaded, but the default is the Samsung browser. I only use chrome on my computer. I never really liked it on my device. The Samsung browser is good for me.

It should still be able to do desktop. One article I saw just now said select options and then choose "desktop view" but that might be an older version than yours. In Chrome you just select the threee dots top right and then choose Request Desktop Site from the list.

Suzanne, as far as I recall selecting desktop didn't seem to do much on my iPod but it did make a difference on the Android.

Hurray! Jeanie! James, maybe you could try Chrome and use it just for this site if it works better. Maybe Dave will be fixing this issue, in which case it would just be in the interim.

It's not a big deal for me. I don't think I've ever saved a draft anyway.
I was just agreeing that yes, it is not available for me either.

Interesting... I'm going to have to try that on our android tablet (if I can ever get it away from DH again), and see if things in general just run better for me that way.

re. using information from other sources... citation is important, just like when you wrote papers in HS or college...

If you are repeating information that is "common knowledge" (you found it several places), there's no need to cite a source. For example, some seeds germinate in about the same amount of time regardless of variety (tomatoes, sweet peppers), so you wouldn't need a source for that. Lettuce seed germination, however, can vary widely depending on variety, so if you're filling in details for an unusual variety you might want to cite where you found the information in a comment after you've filled in the details.

If you put specific, unique, not-generally-known information into your own words, you should still cite your source if possible, even if it's a vague "I think I read once in Mother Earth News that this is the best clover for nitrogen fixation."

You can certainly quote directly from other sources, but the quote should be just a portion of the information. Use quotation marks and/or italics to set off the text you're quoting, and cite your source.

And don't post a picture without checking the copyright information on it... many images are public domain or can be used as long as you give credit ( the name of the photographer), but if that's not clearly the case, then you need permission from the photographer.

It sounds like everyone posting on the subject has a handle on it, but I wanted to jump on my former-academic soapbox for a moment anyway. Thanks for bearing with me!

I agree with Jill: giving credit and using quotation marks keeps it from being plagiarism.

Keeping quotes short also helps; "fair use" may even have a legal definition.

Rewording is enough to keep something from being plagiarism, but if the source really did have some unique insight or information, giving credit to the source seems like good manners.

I think that "courtesy to the author", even on the Internet, urges us to go beyond the letter of the law, even if it is a 99.9% unenforced law.

Perhaps, on the Internet, we should also respect a lesser standard: They put some work into creating content, and are entitled to the rewards of their effort. To copy the entire site or a whole article and NOT give credit would be gross theft, and potentially hurt the authors by giving away the authors' work without any benefit to them.

To use a short ATTRIBUTED quote may actually increase their traffic, helping them rather than harming them. I am guilty of that!

On the other hand, posting something on the Internet is a little like leaving a valuable object on the sidewalk, unguarded. Even if 99% of the people who walk past it abide by the honor system, when you come back a week later, someone is likely to have picked it up (or made a copy). That's not condoning plagiarism, but I wonder how copyright protection will continue to be enforced as more and more media becomes digital and hence easily copied? Even the music industry seems to be struggling with that.

Yep, there are lots of struggles with copyright laws. "Fair Use" has a very specific (and complex) legal version. But yes, in short, keep it short, quote it or re-word it, and attribute it!

Jill, that was an excellent post! I think it should go somewhere on this site where people would actually be liable to see it ... but I don't know where that would be. Maybe some sort of "info box" that shows up when we are about to add information to the database?

Edited to add: It isn't just a matter of giving credit to the author of the information, important as that is; there is so much conflicting information available that it is very helpful to know where the data has come from.
