Well it's good to see you still posting, that means you're still not drifting down some river.

No, but my poor potted iris are under lots of water. I had to go out and move some containers to higher ground. Got soaked in about 20 seconds. Lots of standing water in the gardens as well. I had to take out a top block on my raised dwarf iris ring so the water can pour out.

There is more breeze than I expected, but the rain is way heavier than forecast. Raining sideways now. This is bad for us because it has rained a lot of late and the ground was already saturated. Makes it easy to topple trees and we have very very large trees in the Carolinas. My willow oaks are over 80 feet each, for an example.

If you have done all you can, Leslie, get warm and dry and put on an old movie or read an engrossing book to pass the time. Roads will be dangerous with all the rain so staying occupied will help pass the time. The little guys are tough and standing water for only several days should not hurt them. Crossing Fingers!

Yeah, distractions are a great idea. Just put on some warmer clothes. And boy, I am going to need a drink tonight!

Cold and heavy rains here. Probably the coolest day since Spring this year. Still taking advantage of the water and now separating Hosta 'Patriot' in the garage. I'm going to run out of 1 gal. pots soon as I have 4 more varieties to divide. Maybe I'll get to dividing daylilies Monday since I work all day tomorrow..

Everything fertilized just looks beefy. Rhizomes are all giant swollen potatoes and are looking almost green tinted. I think they've had enough water for months.

There's flooding in some areas around town. My house has a architectural moat around it at the moment. Luckily all water here travels downhill.

Be safe guys and keep vital electronics charged in case of emergencies!!
Gimme it and I'll grow it!

You are out of the rain now aren't you? No working outside here. Rain ongoing. Maybe tomorrow I can survey the damage.

Just literally got a severe flood warning while typing this.

We're in the clear! Lots of wind and sitting water though. I was mad actually because I had to water my newly potted plants an hour ago. Rolling on the floor laughing

2 inches of rain here NE of Boston. So we got benefits instead of damage. Strange.

Glad you all made it through the storm. Hoping now that your irises do too. Lucy glad there was a silver lining to the storm for your area.

Lots of our state is under water due to flooding. And the rivers will continue to crest until the weekend. My area is mostly flood free but we had more rain than Gabe's area, and my bearded iris are looking pretty pathetic. Lots of soggy leaves to remove, and rhizomes to unbury. Have a rot issue with Maggie Beth that I am heartbroken about. She was the one Burseen I wanted most this year so it figures. I think I will dig her up, dry her out and then re-plant. She has lots of increases I hope to save.

My Louisiana iris are looking wonderful. They are just out of dormancy and loved all the rain. Hope that leads to many happy blooms next spring!! I planted two new LA's yesterday (thanks to a kind NGA member). The soil was supersaturated so no watering was needed! Hilarious!

I'm noticing Peter Jackson's beautiful irises, (Louisiana's, ) on Facebook. They look like jewels.

Apparently they need soggy, marshy conditions - so I couldn't grow them in CA.

Okay - have a story for you all.

We had a massive tree come down over the road just up the street from me. The tree started in a driveway, stretches across the street and onto the yard of another home. The owners asked the city to come remove the tree but there is a waiting list. Now this road is a school bus route, so the city put a huge Stop sign up in the lane that cars use to turn onto the road. Did that sign stop the school buses? No, it did not. Every single bus, and I mean all of them, went by the sign, then had to back up into the intersection. So from 6:30 am on all you heard was "beep beep beep" from the back-up signals on the buses. I think that it is rather sad that drivers don't need to know how to read or think. D'Oh! D'Oh!
