I have a major update to the Garden.org code that I have uploaded. The work was all internal to the system and should not affect the site in any way.

So why am I mentioning it? The update was big enough that there might be bugs. So if you notice any strange behavior in the site (that wasn't here before) please let me know in this thread!

I'm noticing a few strange things. The area that mentions acorn tips now doesn't say what it was for. This is what I get for each one:
lovemyhouse gave for an miscellaneous contribution

I also tried to find the forum list, and it wasn't where it should be.

Last night the banner didn't change.

Ok so those issues are all fixed, as you noticed.

If anything else comes up, let me know please!

@Dave
I just noticed that the Sandbox forum threads aren't showing up in the "Recent threads" on my home page. However, if I click on the "ยป Continue viewing new threads" link at the bottom of that list, then they do show up on that page ( http://garden.org/thread/new/ .)

I had an acorn tip notification and when I went to see it, I also had 5 thumbs up 17 minutes earlier that didn't show up.

Another oddity, smaller images in the plant database are being stretched for display beyond their pixel size, resulting in a very pixelated image. For example,

@Dave , did you see my post from yesterday about the "Recent threads" box ?
Sandbox threads are still not showing on the home page.

Also, would this be the right thread for questions/comments about the new "Media Queries" CSS code?

Thanks! Big Grin

Yes, I should have replied about the sandbox threads - they are explicitly ignored on the homepage. The sandbox is for off topic chat and test threads and shouldn't be featured prominently on the homepage.

Feel free to ask about the CSS here.

@dave

Why are all the icons appearing (and showing up) a lot smaller than they used to be? :blinking:

I really liked the size they were before. They're really hard to see now.

I noticed that the avatars are showing up smaller too.

Seeing this thread, I thought I should ask about a Landscape photo I had entered on Nov. 7. When I found the name for the Primula the next day and wanted to add the name, I could draw the box around it, but there was nowhere to enter a name.

But I thought better of it and thought of trying a new photo, of some Anthemis tinctoria blossoms, and in this case, I was able to label all the flowers. So I went back to the Primula photo, and lo and behold! - - - it now worked perfectly!

Thank you, I tip my hat to you. thank you Dave for all the work you do to fine tune this marvellous and happy website.
Cheers, HemNorth

I haven't changed the sizes of the icons so your browser may have changed size. That would affect the size of the icons.

Thanks Dave for letting me know.

DH and I can't figure it out. We use Firefox on a desk top and I haven't had this problem before.

The icons I was talking about aren't icons, but the badges. I was up around 3 am EST when I made the previous post and didn't really say it correctly. *Blush* D'Oh!

Thanks, Dave. Smiling
I thought that might be the reason for the Sandbox threads not showing, but I could have sworn that they once did. Was this a somewhat recent change... or have I completely lost my marbles? Hilarious!

Regarding the "Media Queries" CSS code,
I'm on a laptop with display max width of 1280 so I was being affected by the code that reduced the avatars and microbadges to half the size. The microbadges were so small that it looked like, for example, a cow-shaped gnat had landed on my screen. Hilarious! Obviously, that is no longer an issue since you updated it. Thumbs up

@Dave
I have a new oddity to report, though. The images on the home page, in the following list of boxes, are linking back to the home page ( http://garden.org/# ) instead of to the photos' respective addresses in the plant database, for example.
- Today's Inspiration
- Recent Images from the Plant Database
- Today's Popular Photo

Also, images in the threads are opening in a new page rather than in the pop-up display box.

Thanks! Smiling

Okay, never mind, the image issues seem to have resolved themselves, mostly.

I am getting a weird issue when I click on one of the photos on the home page that display in a pop-up display box (link: http://garden.org/# ) When I click on a photo, the image that I looked at previously loads initially for a half-second and then the new photo loads.

I'm not sure if this is a site issue or a browser hiccup. It just started tonight. I did close my browser and restarted the computer and the latest issue persisted. Shrug!
