200 is not that many? I guess I have a lot to learn! Well, I do have close to an acre here. Might have to cut down three or four trees, and boot those huge hostas outta there! I guess the hydrangeas could go as well.

Do you think it will get that bad? Yeah, I came here after looking around on the LA. I can't believe some of the deals! Even on instant buys and store items. Me and my instant gratification.

I'm messing up again. It's been a lot of years since I grew things under lights in the house. Pots cost so much I had to dig a bunch out of the shed and scrub them up. They look good as new! Before, I had greenhouse benches, but now I have a vented shelving unit. Not only would the seedlings be peeing on the heads of the ones on the next shelf down, but on the lights strung on the underside of the shelves! Argh!!!

I've read so many articles on this site that I can't find the one that talked about the boot tray, but that is what I will be looking for today. What next?!

So you understand, we have 200 seedlings with Rose F Kennedy as a parent. We have about 10,000 total seedlings. We live on a farm and use about an acre for daylilies.
I have used Rose F Kennedy in hybridizing since 2012 and here are some of our seedling pictures of RFK babies.

Kidfishing, I want YOUR life! How exquisite! When I see a beautiful daylily, I get tearful sometimes. If I was you, seeing all that, I'd never stop crying. You bring so much happiness into the world.

And to live on a farm! I'll never forget going on vacation and visiting our grandparents farm.

But, 10,000? You must be a youngster. When do you sit down? And now, I can't believe how much I'm freaking out over a measly 19 seeds!

Thank you, Gleni. I've spent the summer reading all the advice you guys give and get on this forum. I'm just so glad to be here.

You'll soon find 200 isn't many at all. I've had upwards of 500 PLUS seedlings. Am downsizing now that I've found there are other flowers to grow. (flack helmet on here) Sticking tongue out

josiekid,
Your 19 seeds are not measly because you will be excited to see them grow and bloom. We make so many daylily seeds that we just keep taking part of the yard and farm for new beds. We don't keep up with things as well as we would like. I hope to someday have a real nice display show garden or at least an area of my garden that is really nice. We should sell some of our seeds on the LA but just not gotten around to list any for sale. Most of what I cross are with my seedlings. Ashton has really nice newer daylilies but wants to plant all his seeds.
We also propagate other plants including tall bearded iris and lots of different flowering shrubs.

I'm soooo happy this morning! I finally started my seeds!

I wrapped my baby seeds up in soft white blankets (paper towels), wet them, squeezed, and tucked them into plastic sandwich bags. These are the ones from eBay (still haven't got the ones from the LA yet). I told myself not to worry about everything not being ready yet. They wouldn't pop up their tiny green leaves overnight. And, surely they would not ALL germinate.

Well, I was worried about having room for 19 seeds under the lights, but it turns out, I received extras in every envelope! Counting the bonus packet, I received 26 seeds! So, tell me, is it really ok to grow more than one plant in each pot? I mean all winter, till I set them out in the spring?

Since we grow so many seeds, we usually plant multiple seeds per pot. They are easy to divide when you are ready to plant them in your garden.
Introduce and register are the same thing.
We planted seeds directly in cups and pots outside as we harvested seeds. I plant 3 -5 seeds of the same cross in each cup. I also use gallon black pots and plant all seeds in a pod in those.
Most years we start seeds indoors in the winter. We keep doing different things to try and save time and effort.
When we first started and had less seeds or when we purchased seeds, we were concerned with our survival percentage. Now we just plant seeds and give them reasonable care and go to the garden with all that survive.

These are 2016 seedlings.

How interesting, kidfishing, that you start them as you harvest. Also, I can't imagine the work when you do go to set all those seedlings out. Your last photo shows, what, at least a couple hundred?

And you've been doing this for years. You are fascinating. Please write a book! What am I saying - you don't have time to write a book! I just wish you could get a little help so that you could finish your display garden, and start selling your seeds. You are gonna be famous!

Thumbs up I'd have to agree that Terry and Ashton might one day be well-known daylily hybridizers! They certainly are on the right course to do so. Smiling

Here's me, still being patient. (that word does not look right)

5 days ago, I sent this message to the seller on the Lily Auction.

"Hi. Just wanted to say I already sent the money through PayPal. Didn't you get it? I messed up, too, and I'm sorry but I sent the money for the seeds and the money for the shipping on two different transactions. (I'm losing my mind over RFK) Please send my seeds as soon as you can, cause I'm done buying on the LA, and I can't wait to see my babies!!!"

Plus, in a seperate message, I said to send dip or tet bonus seeds, cause I like em both. Anyway, my question is, do you guys think I would be bugging too much if I sent another message that I already paid, or should I shut up? I'm just sayin, the seeds I bought the same day from Ebay are here and ready to pop, and I'm worried that the ones from the LA will get frozen in the mail.
