Craig, I got HH from Select Plus in Canada 2 years ago. HH is a robust grower. It is supposed to be a double as pictured on the vendor's website but mine has not bloomed double yet. Nick from Canada posted a pic of it this past spring and it was pretty close to the vendor's pic of it. Maybe it is a peony that requires extensive root system to produce double blooms. Here's the link:

If you ever interest in a trade, I will gladly trade a nice division of it for your double NOID that you believe to be Scrumdidleyumptious.

Karen, I did purchase HH from Select Plus and it died along with two other rare ones the first year! When I asked Frank if he would replace them, he told me he does not refund items that do not survive the winter. He did offer a deal on new purchases but when I placed my order, he claimed that he had a bad year for his potted Itohs! I was very discouraged Angry
I would gladly trade with you, I will have to find NOID among sixty Itohs.
As for the yellow Itoh I posted, I was in error because Lemon Dream has lavender streaks. I believe it is Yellow Heaven Shrug!

FYI. Since you have posted about Select Plus, I regret to post that Frank Moro passed away Oct. 22. May he Rest In Peace.

They have not updated the website with this information.

I have a peony order paid in full with them that has still not shipped, and no one is answering my emails now. I just want to post this information so that you may be aware of the situation should you place an order.

Thank you for the update LG.
My condolences go out to the Moro family. He worked hard for his business and struggled through tough times with health issues with his family.
I hope you can resolve the issues with your order.

Rest In Peace Frank.

Wow Craig, you have a huge itoh peony collection at 60 varieties! I think that you must have most of the itohs ever hybridized. Do you happen to have Strawberry Creme Brulee? Would love to see a pic of its bloom in an actual home garden.

That is terrible indeed losing 3 rare plants the first year. And I bet they were not cheap. Did you receive small plants from Select Plus then? It seemed that they must have sent smaller plants when they first began selling online. I remember that Liz had said that she got very small plants from them when she first placed an order with them many years ago. Luckily, when I ordered 3 itohs from them in Fall 2014, HH and Magical Mystery Tour plants were huge. Although Strawberry Creme Brulee was a very small plant, it did have healthy eyes and root. The SCB had not bloomed yet. I hope to see its first bloom this coming spring.

I am sorry to hear about the owner of Select Plus's passing. Hope the family can pick up where he left off and not sold the business. Itoh peony is such an exciting field but running a business is tough. Hope they sort it out and you get your order filled or money refunded, LG.

Wow Craig, 60 Itohs!! I can't wait to see your Peony pix this Spring! As you can tell we are slightly obsessed with peonies here. Whistling

Thank you both for your support in this awkward situation with my Peony order. I do hope they intend to keep the business going and will fulfill my order (preferred) or give me a refund. Sigh. I will definitely let the Forum know the outcome.

I have Lemon Dream, and it doesn't always bloom with the pink streaks.

Karen, I have nowhere near every itoh as some are duplicates of a particular variety. I usually purchase at least two of every one in case one does not survive.
I did purchase Strawberry Crème Brulee but it did not do well, very small root. There was one small shoot which I hope will survive. The other roots I received were small as well and when I spoke to Frank I requested larger roots which he offered on some varieties. I also purchased Vision of Sugar Plums for $95, nice big root, but did not survive! He had intentions of putting on his site.
Not sure if the family will continue the business as Frank was the driving force. His children are all young and I know that last year his wife had cancer.

Craig, love your first and second pics! Are you sure that is Morning Lilac? I thought ML is darker than that. Can that be First Arrival? I would like to get the itoh peony that looks exactly like your ML.

Steve, your SitR and Cora Louise are beautiful. I particularly love your CL pic with the variegated foliage in the background.

Karen, this was it's first season and it was marked as Morning Lilac. It may be a few days after blooming. I was out of town during most of the blooming season so I missed a lot. Crying

If anyone is interested in LARGE Itoh roots, the best I've ever seen come from
Adelmans Peony Gardens in Oregon. The Hillary I put in last fall was absolutely HUGE , it had eight stems this spring and bloomed five gorgeous flowers .....the first year! So my sister ordered one and it was even bigger than mine, biggest root I've ever seen. I know bigger isn't always better, but who can argue with those results. I also got a lovely large root of Scarlet Heaven from Brooks Gardens at 20% off this fall, so we'll see.
Love your pics, all of you. First time to see this site. I'm in western NY zone 4 and all my peonies do super here , about 150 herbaceous, a dozen trees and 11 Itohs. There just isn't anything more beautiful than peonies, all kinds.

Welcome! Gideon 4 - Love to see your pics next spring. I have only a small selection of herbaceous, two trees, and four or five itohs. Would love to find a source for Court Jester. I had it confused with Joker (lol - just the name not the bloom).

I found Court Jester at Swenson's but it doesn't look like the picture here.

Gideon4 Welcome! Yes, Adelman's roots are wonderful! Great place to buy peonies!

You have a big collection of peonies. Please post your pictures! Some peoples here have hundreds of peonies, my garden accommodates only 114 so far and it is very close to the limit Sad

All this loveliness of Itoh's sent me off to Hidden Springs. Big mistake. Ordered First Arrival and Old Rose Dandy for 2018 delivery. I included a note to that effect. I absolutely do NOT want any more roots this winter. All Anya's fault. Rolling on the floor laughing
