Agree - that NOID is wonderful! Why no name? Was it misidentified?

Yankee Doodle Dandy from our Botanical Garden looks like Alex's:

With Tissue Cultured itohs, it is hard to know what you are going to get. I actually like both versions of Yankee Doodle Dandy, Yan's and Anya's. The colors and forms on both are extraordinary! Gorgeous!

Alex, wish my Cora Louise has more petals like yours! Yours is stunning! Mine is a tissue cultured plant so the variation, I guess.

Gideon, I totally agree with you about Adelman's size of peony roots esp the itohs. They are HUGE with many large eyes! I am glad that there are so many generous peony vendors around.

I always feel many Itoh have some kinds of shrinkage in petals and flower, such as the Yankee Doodle Dandy, the petals are not extended and smooth as tree peonies or herbaceous peonies.

LG, that is the color I am looking for. I guess we may be talking tissue culture differences when I look online and see a wimpy imitation of your well defined color I pass on them. The real thing or nothing. lol

Mary, Swenson's grow their intersectional peonies from divisions - real stuff, not tissue culture. So their Court Jester should be true to name and from original stock. You can ask them to send you more pictures of this variety if you find its color different, they take a lot of photos of their peonies.

Swenson stock is directly from Roger Anderson (they bought him out the second time he sold out), so you definitely know you have what you paid for, unless it was a case of cultivar mix up. And that even happens to the good ones every once in a while.

I am going to give my 'Keiko' a year or so. My bet is that it does better in the south, perhaps because that's where Don Smith breeds his peonies. I only had a few flowers on it last year in its second year here. I bought it potted after seeing pictures of LG's here.

So nice to see everyone's photos. Thanks for sharing them.
