Nice! Ours is just a normal clothes rod and any bumpiness throws them off.

It was! My husband has now jury rigged a device to hold them on the rod. I imagine we'll buy the real thing one of these days.

Bonehead said:Much smaller than your rig, Anna. But way bigger than we are used to. I think it is a 23' trailer but the overall length (including tongue) may be closer to 28'. My main 'wants' are a walk around bed, a couch, a slide, and a decent kitchen. This seems to have them all, so we shall see.

Uh...Karen... we would actually have to HAVE a hanging closet to actually use hangers that would allow clothes to fall off... just sayin'

we may need to camp in nudist areas ...

Margaret...that is a huge house you got there! I bet you really enjoy it.

Anna the closet space is fantastic..do the closets not fly open? I thought RVS had to have top hinges.

Margaret that setting is beautiful

The closet doors close tightly and would have to be in pretty bad shape to flop open during "transport".

Hmmm. The Hideout is quite nice, but didn't really grab either of us. Partly it is priced too high (6 years old although in excellent condition), and I think we may just need to walk-through more trailers to get used to the size of them. Seemed huge to both of us. Nice layout - the couch is the slide and is opposite the dinette so that makes a nice conversation area; the kitchen is at the back with a corner sink and more counter space than others we've looked at. I kind of wondered about traffic jams while cooking (?) The bathroom was just kind of...big...with the pot in a separate little room of its own (a bit claustrophobic?) and the shower/sink in the front bedroom. So, two privacy doors between the living area and the actual bedroom (one is just a curtain). The concept of that is OK, but I'd rather have less bathroom and more living area - the shower is a corner triangular unit. I did like the double doors (one to the main living area, one to the bedroom). Some of the storage seemed funky to me, but lots of it. As noted above, I wasn't real taken with the upholstery although it IS cloth and pretty neutral.

Not ruling it out, but not jumping on it.

Yes, try for more living space and a smaller bathroom.

One thing we have is a little outdoor shower. It comes out of a small compartment on the back of the trailer, and is like a normal handheld shower head. It's wonderful for washing off sandy or dirty feet, or bathing a dog. I've used it for washing off all sorts of things. I don't know if that's a standard thing or not on all rigs.

Deb .the one thing I would suggest is that if this will be your last RV purchase ..since you love RVing so much and want to do it as long as you can..stick with your excellent instinct about the bathroom..you can always make changes to steps or ramps to get into the RV but there is not much you can do retroactively to make the tight toilet room accommodate a walker or sidebars to assist on and off toilet UNLESS you can remove sidewalls in the actual compartment. I am the least to give advice here -- but I suspect that an RV is NOT as amenable to renovation to assist with aging in place -- with electrical and stuff in walls that can't be relocated like in a conventional space. I worked with an aging in place designer to renovate our bathroom. It is a very important space and can make or break a deal.

Karen, I think we've used our outdoor shower more than the indoor one in our camper! Much roomier (open air) and with a suit on, you can it all done and just do the 'down and dirty' inside in the tiny combo sink/toilet/shower. I've never minded that. My husband typically uses the campground shower, but I'd rather not pack stuff back and forth.

Rosie, I think this next RV will be a medium-term purchase - maybe 10 years, depending on lots of things. Mobility is of course key. I do like the notion of traveling at our leisure without plans or reservations. That said, I highly recommend those suction mounted grab bars - I 'inherited' one from a deceased relative and what a cool thing they are. Handy and sturdy.

I never thought about using it for my shower, but it makes a lot of sense and certainly would be less confining. Our shower is very small.

Deb how do you make suction grab bars stay firmly attached? Everything I ever had with suctions would let loose easily. I've tried dampening them, etc.

Karen, I just stuck the grab bar onto the wall and it was good to go. We recently remodeled our bathroom and I can't immediately locate it for the brand name - it was acrylic, white and aqua, with pretty large suction cups. Seemed to hold really well, although I never fell, just used it as a bit of a balance point.

I'll have to look into some. I've always associated flimsy with suction cups.

Jean, what is the size and brand of your rig? It is really helpful for my search to see all these personal snapshots - keep 'em coming.

Jean, you have a nice rig there, very nice interior.

Deb, I always check to see where the hot water tank and the pump are located, the first trailer we bought the pump was under the bed, very inconvenient to get at, and not all potable water tanks have a valve to empty them, some have just a screw in plug and they take forever to empty..

Deb on the first page of this thread, Jean wrote 'then upgraded to what we have now -- a 36 foot Winnebago with two slideouts'. I knew they had a Winnebago because Jean and I have written about them in another area.

Jean yours is very nice looks very comfy, some of your features are similar to ours. Hope you get enjoyment from it for years to come.

Thanks Betty. I sometimes can't slog through a whole thread and don't have much luck with searching (operator error, nothing wrong with the site design). For those posting pics, don't worry about redundancy, it is helpful to quickly know what we are looking at (memory is another fading skill).

@Bonehead Ours is a 36' Winnebago Journey 2002 with two slides. There is a place for a washer/dryer if you prefer, however, after some people told us that it takes forever to do one load, we decided on the storage space instead.
@mcash70 Thank You!
