We always stow everything. I even take out the microwave turntable so it doesn't fly around inside and break something.

Yep. That's on the list. We have had friends who didn't take their turntable out and it fell out and broke.

Interesting we have never taken out the microwave turntable and never had one fall out they seem very secure and the door clicks shut securely. Plus I always store bread/baked type items in the microwave which likely helps keep the turntable in place.

Betty, I've noticed that my microwave glass tray will shift a bit, but I put bread up there too, or whatever needs a "storage" area while we are moving and something that's not heavy as to cause problems.

I have SO much storage in our Cyclone. There are quite a few "cupboard doors" and I love telling people that they are ALL functional. In fact, I don't have them all in use. I have more storage in the Rv than I do in my kitchen. Rolling on the floor laughing The only downside of it is to reach ANYTHING I have to stand on a chair. I've heard that can be a dealbreaker for some people, but they have to expect some "high up" if they are wanting lots of storage. I don't mind having to use a chair (except for the morning the seat swiveled on it and I fell off................LOL). The SU is always after me when I do that..........."don't stand on the chair, you're gonna fall off". Me..........."no, I won't". He was still in bed when it happened. I'm surprised he didn't come to see what happened, as I really made a clatter when I fell. D'Oh!

Ouch! Lucky you didn't hurt yourself. We have one of those folding heavy vinyl stools that they sell at Camping World it comes in handy. I know the microwave turntable shifts slightly maybe since we store lightweight things in there it keeps it in place. Only one of our cabinet doors is not functional for storage it is where all the circuit breakers are located, you get to pull open a nice looking door to find them. The longer you have yours you will be surprised at the items you will find that you want to have handy of course then you will have to remember where you have them. Whistling We have plenty of things that are duplicate for both the house and the RV so we don't have to drag them back and forth.

I know about all the storage space sometimes we forget where we put thing and have to search for them, guess we should have made a list of where everything was put. Then there is all the outside storage hard to remember what each compartment has, that is more my DH's realm.

We travel really light. There are two closets up at the head of the bed which are pretty much empty. They are un-handy to get to, so I just don't use them. I think there may be rain gear in one of them. I use wicker baskets a lot, both inside and outside the storage space. And a small folding step stool - I'm short and even getting into the freezer compartment of the frig is a stretch for me.

Here's my current beef - what IS it with giant bathrooms? I'd much prefer a cramped little one and use that space elsewhere. We looked at a rig the other day that had TWO doors into the bath. Really?

Our 2nd full bathroom in the "garage" is like that.............If I weighed any more I probably would have to back in and drive out. LOLOL VERY small. The size/space of the "master" one we feel is "just right".

Deb, our fridge has the freezer on the bottom..........yay!!!!!!!!! I LOVE that.

Freezer on the bottom sounds great - I have that in our house and love it. We're so used to tiny tiny that anything will be an upgrade for us. My dad's old 5th wheel had an interesting layout - the bathroom was just in the main bedroom area with a pocket door closing it off from the living area. Seemed like a better use of space. I really wish we would have kept that unit, but alas...

Running out to check out a 5th wheel and truck combo today. Close to home, private party.

The 5th wheel/truck combo was not for us...but fun to look at. I figure the more rigs we look through hopefully one will just POP for us. I'm also quizzing everyone who owns any sort of RV about what they like or dislike. Many wish for bigger. Storage space and general layouts are also at the top of the list. My deal breakers are (a) leather furniture and (b) no oven or electric oven.

Yeah, none of that feels good to my skin - leather, pleather, plastic, vinyl. Ick to it all, give me cloth, preferably not plaid. We all have our quirks!

Deb, we didn't pick it...........it was in it when we bought it. Yeah, stick to it when it's really hot, but I don't find it offensive. LOL I guess the only gripe I really have about ours is that the A/C is SO loud. Doesn't bother me at night, I can sleep through about anything. However, it DOES annoy a person when you're trying to carry on a conversation and it's rattling away. Sticking tongue out

Good to know -- I've always just looked to see if a unit has an AC, will now ask to have them turned on! Up in our rainy area, not much of a need for one, but when we hit the desert country I melt in the heat. We had AC in our 1st camper but not in our current one. I have pretty good luck finding shade outside, and our ceiling fan keeps us pretty comfortable inside the rig. We actually spend very little time inside except to sleep. That may change when we get something bigger.

Well, that is one worry I WILL NOT have...-what to do with excess cabinet space! I won't need to worry about a bathroom that is too big either. 😝
I am just glad for that little built in wall cubby that keeps the toilet paper from rolling around

Manuals...yes..... I hate those things. I still have not watched the DVD for my washer/dryer ( 7 years old ) hahahaha

And it is not a big fat book like with an auto either ..that much hated fat book is starting to look good to me!

Here is the quilted case with all the separated areas ..electronics..entertainment ...chassis.. ugh

I was warned NEVER to use the microwave while driving ....now why is that...the fridge runs... I am pretty sure I can use the burners... so much to learn and my brain ain't what it used to be... RIGHT now I am more interested about why I get a whiff of propane when standing next to the vehicle .... propane is not a comfort gas. And.....regardless of DH insistence that the backup camera is trustworthy....nope...I oersonally cannot look forward when heading backwards ...that is not natural. Of course I can't put in earrings when looking in a mirror ..nor use a handblower in one hand and a brush in the other IF looking in a mirror... my hair gets alllllllllll tangled to the point of panic

The SU would like a remote camera for ours, not so much for the backing up (since there is always someone that can go out and watch), but for hiway driving, passing, and pulling back in the lane again. Anyone have any recommendations?

The remote camera is nice both for backing up and for hiway driving so you can see other vehicles for driving safety. Just be aware that the camera lens can get dirty in certain messy weather conditions, if that happens we pull into a wayside rest and clean it off.

Rosie your owners manual looks kind of like ours which is larger with all the different slots for the information, we still call it a book even though it really is a case with a carrying handle.

Saw some of you writing about other things in your rigs, we also have fabric upholstery which to us in comfortable. The A/C in ours is very quite so we can easily carry on conversations, watch TV or listen to music.

Deb have fun looking, you will find the one that fits your needs.

I am finding the RV forums very interesting. Lots of topics, opinions and advice.

I can see once the confidence is built up via trial and error ( and successes ) it will feel less overwhelming. I just don't want to ruin $$$$$$ system or explode!

I am also learning that there is a world of gadgets out there to help with just about everything from storage to maintrnance, to navigation to upkeep to the camping aspect to the touring aspect.

Do any of you camp/RV down in the Brownsville, Texas area, or along that "Camper Alley"? A friend and her hubby go down there for 3-4 months and she said "you don't want to drink the water down there". I didn't get a chance to talk to her any more about it so would like some input if any of you have been there. We have a water softener, a filter, and we also use a Britta pitcher in the RV. Would all those remove any "crud" that would be less than healthy from the water or should we use bottled water if we go there?

We have camped at Port Aransas, which is quite a long way from Brownsville, but didn't find the water objectionable. However, we, like you have a filter, etc. We do carry a case of bottled water that we use if going on day trips. The only water problem I remember was in Las Cruces, NM where DH had to chip the calcium build-up off the water faucet before he could hook it up. Thank goodness we were only passing through and spending one night there.
