How long does it take for you to reach your winter destination? That's the part I am not too fond of, the long drive through crap weather to get to warm weather. I don't know if we will take a winter trip this year or not. For us, the most logical destination is the southwest desert which I am not too fond of.

Anna, 3 days is not bad at all. It seems to takes us over a week to get to warm weather. We tend to take secondary roads, or the coast highway, and are only good for about 3-4 hours a day road time. We like to stop early and get in some walking or hiking to keep the bones working. Last winter we tried heading straight down the major freeway (I-5) which was extremely boring. We also struggle with locating OPEN campgrounds, many of them close for the winter.

I really don't mind our PNW winters, they are not nearly as snowy or cold as other parts of the country. I've lately been wondering if RV travel is even in my wheelhouse...

We're wondering the same thing, Deb. We're lucky if we get out once a year for a week. It's hard to get away from all my plants!

What I have found is the months I like to get away (Dec - Feb) are pretty cool until we get to the lower border, or down into Mexico. I'd really like to experience the desert blooming, but I think that is about March or so and I pretty much want to be home by then for spring cleanup, seed starting, etc. We ventured into the canyon country last winter but found that pretty chilly and often windy or rainy. I could do some traveling in late summer, but then you fight crowds, and need reservations. I'm not much of a planner.

We arriveda obout 4 yesterday afternoon. Set up, did the basics and went to bed. Today the first order is hit the grocery. We did not run the fridge on the way down. I did not see the sense of transporting food I can buy here. I took a loaf of my homemade wheat bread and had some deli ham and sliced cheese to make a sandwich to eat on the road. Stopped at a fast food for the 2 night meals.

We were able to beat all the weather. Home did not have any snow, but 60 miles south of us had lots and we would have had to drive through it. Good thing we left Saturday.

Yes..sell a lot.
What do you mean run fridge while traveling? You mean off propane? Will the battery run a full size fridge?

Our battery won't run our fridge, but we do run on propane while we're traveling.

Battery for fridge when on the road. 3 days is a long time as we did not see the sense in it.

Yesterday i bought a tabletop convection oven at Bed Bath and Beyond......a Breville that was marked down to $319 from $399. The salesgal applied a 20% off coupon so price before taxes was $255. Had they not had a good return policy i would not havegotten it. Up to one year with original sales receipt. I told the gal that i would know in a couple of days if it was going to do the job. The only glitch was they had to order it......3-6 business days. I should be so fortunate it would come this week.

I made cookies last night....it took FOREVER to bake them. Sticking tongue out

The fridge in our towable runs off propane and electric..I dont think it talks to a battery. I know there is a battery up near the hitch and in the storage area (that is accessed from the outside there is a switch to turn the battery on and off... but I have not THE FAINTEST idea WHAT exactly that battery does.... I need to get reading. We need to go feed the RV some antifreeze ( in florida no less)... and we are going to look for a park further south so we won't have to worry about it again....just hurricanes and floods! 😳🤪

So I don't have to attempt typing my whole post again on this iPad about my Texas baking, go over to the "I'm Baking" thread in the Sandbox forum and you will read whar I have been up to.

Weather is lovely here, been nice enough at night to keep the windows open. This morning I woke up to the smell of smoke.....I'm thinking that perhaps someone was burning a cane field somewhere. Lots of cane fields down here.

I went to the community band practice yesterday of the group I am going to play with while we are here. A nice, friendly group of musicians.

Extended forecast for next week is calling for daily highs of 100......better than snow and cold!
