Good one Jill!

Got a great deal on BOS seed so I decided to fill feeders and put them out today.

Usually I just feed birds on an emergency basis cause if feral cats I feed daily. Hopefully we will have a peaceable kingdom here.....

Anyone doing the Great Backyard Bird Count this year?
Feb 15 = 18
http://gbbc.birdcount.org/

New birds at my feeder, Common Red Poll! Also two sightings of Blue Birds! Very few of the Blue Jays this year.

Maybe I have your blue Jay's. They've been regulars this year unlike before. Maybe since I started giving stripes sunflower seed. We have seen and heard a towhee a few times. New for us.
Plant it and they will come.

Thanks for the reminder! Hope it's OK if I refill the feeders and "bait" them closer so we can count them. :-)

Jim spotted a falcon on the back deck, perched on the canopy frame... he (or she) drops by with some frequency. I wish there were a way to ask him to go for the English Sparrows and not the juncos. I suspect the mourning doves are too big for him, but I don't know. We do see occasional evidence of a dove kill, but it could be our resident Redtail.

What's happening in your backyard or deck or apartment balcony is the point of this count so by all means go for it and fill those feeders!

Personally I love those junkos and a so beautiful/handsome nuthatch is hanging around too.

Sally I bow to your ability to ID birds by sound!

very cool, M Maid Thumbs up

Saw a Towhee yesterday around the feeder, saw a pair of bluebirds. Among juncos, nuthatches, downys, cardinals, jays, house finch, house sparrows
It's only a handful of birds I know by voice. Maybe two hands if I count= ten? It helps that I own a bird ID CD.
I have a bag of 'Bluebird Nuggets' but am not sure if any birds are liking them, They seem untouched a few days in the feeder then eventually get eaten.
Plant it and they will come.
