We sometimes long for our music from our old homeland, so we listen online to the radio stations there. Sometimes listening to AM news there too, if something is going amiss there, whether due to grave weather conditions or just to check what is happening locally in terms of politics and regulations, after all we still have family there that will be affected.

So yes, I do listen to AM sometimes. I can read the news online, but sometimes live broadcasts yields more info.

Reminds me when I first got a tape recorder, that when I got tired of recording dripping faucets and such I would record radio programs. AM. 1965. One favorite was on Sunday afternoon the radio station in Kaukauna, WI would broadcast live the sock hop from the Catholic H.S. Such memories and songs. Gene

Saw Split last night. Great acting, but found the story a bit slow. Enjoyed the popcorn immensely!

Then came home to watch the DVR'd version of This is US. I love that show!

I listen to a station that plays old time country music or Real Country as they call it, has Farm Stock reports and has a trading post once a week. They also have their marketing director on there about 3 times a day (once live, then replayed) who talks about different things related to the Veterans. I don't catch his show very often but when I do I turn it up loud and listen. 103.9 KIRLY Country is that one.

My other go to station is 1030 AM. They also do more of the real country but with more of the current artists mixed in that do more that style. A nice compromise and if I'm having trouble getting the other one I turn onto this one. They do sports on certain days but not all day.

Saturday nights, if I'm working late enough I turn into 94.1 FM and listen to Rowdy Yates Country Gold. I could listen to him all night.

RGR movie "Sing" Fun movie, nice story, great animation, you will walk away smiling. Great for the entire family, 4 out of 5 shovels, 30 minutes to long.

Finally finished viewing Season 1 of Medici - Masters of Florence. Truly enjoyed the show! Nicely done, lots of things to think about. When power and greed rears its ugly head. Peace becomes truly elusive.

RGR of the movie "A Dog's Purpose" If you like dogs or do not like dogs, you will probably enjoy this movie. A dogs life seen though the eyes of a dog interacting with humans. Very enjoyable, good for all ages. 3 1/2 shovels out of 5.

One of my all time favorite actors, John Hurt, passed a few days ago. If you only see one of his films watch: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Gene

Gee, Gene, we just saw the movie the other night. I think if the book had been fresh in the head it would have been easier to follow. It got a bit confusing for both of us at times. Do like John Hurt. May he rest in peace.

It was "Hugo" last night. Stunningly beautiful, and the story is quite charming. "Amélie" was another charmer of late for us.

RGR review of "The Founder" story of Ray Kroc and McDonalds. Good story, the good, the bad and the ugly. Great cast, Michael Keaton, Laura Dern, Nick Offerman and John Lynch. Good for all ages, probably more appreciated by those 16 and up. 4 1/2 shovels out of 5.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved LaLaLand. I'd classify it as a Chick Flick though. A love story. I am not a fan of RomComs but this one I LIKED! Worth seeing!

Saw in netflix last night the series Colony, which starred Josh Holloway- from the series Lost- and Sarah Wayne Callies- from the series The Walking Dead.

Interesting sci-fi drama, especially since it has that big wall separating areas to colonies. The concept of a wall, causing family separations, lots of propaganda to collaborate to maintain some semblance of harmony in an unreasonable liberty infringed situation... there is an element of extraterrestrial called Hosts, and like a worker's concentration camp called the Factory, where people are conscripted against their will.

Will continue to watch the series, quite thought provoking.
