Interesting. I just happened upon this place. Lots of cute animals here. Mrs and I are "cat-atonics", have 3 back-door "rescues". Here's #2, enjoying a plate of watermelon, one of his favorites. Sorry about the fuzzy pic.

Sandy..don't know if Tikoy is expecting... Rolling my eyes.

Hi Mac! That's one lovely cat! Seems to be as big as our Tikoy here Smiling

Tikoy came back after gallivanting last night, and rain was pouring a lot too, so I had to get my old poncho, I hardly use it anyways, to add another layer of protection. I think it likes the rain a bit, then will just hide into his box as needed.

This morning, gave it breakfast, came out of the box as soon as it heard the sliding doors open...after chow..nap time..My hubby had a cardboard cement tube that he wrapped with trash bag, have put it out there, in case Tikoy wants to play while it is still raining.

Hi tarev, It looks like you're taking good care of Tikoy's quarters. #2 the watermelon eater is around 15 lbs. He's both tall and long. Here's what he looked like shortly after he adopted us, June 2013, at around 4 lbs:

Anyone using one of these? Stand-up fountain, no slobber in the bowl. We've had ours for a few years and our crew loves it Thumbs up .

Tarev, you are making me Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

For being a self-proclaimed "not a cat person," you are taking awfully good care of that kitty! Lovey dubby

Mac, how does the fountain keep slobber out of the dish? I've read that a lot of cats love the fountains... but I think with our 2 collies and 2 cats we would need more like an indoor water feature. I did have a "gravity water dispenser" -- or whatever they are called, where you fill up the reservoir and it keeps the base part full of water -- but the cats always managed to get their food or kitty litter in it Sticking tongue out .

Sandy, my cats habitually slopped in the water like cows at a water tank. I finally had enough and went to the farm supply store and bought a baby pig waterer. Works on the same principle, and they have clean water. Button still likes to try and slop some out, but I have pretty well been able to contain the flood by setting the waterer in a hog pan. LOL

Sandy, I guess, because the cat's generally aren't lapping off the surface of the bowl, they're less likely to drool in it. Plus the added benefit of having a filter that helps keep the water cleaner. When we got our #3 cat, she drank from the bowl, but it didn't take long before she was using the fountain. I don't think the water flow would be adequate for a large dog though and your gravity dispenser is probably the better way to go. We like ours because the large base helps to prevent spills and it's easy to clean. We keep the fountain some distance from the food dishes so they don't mix the two.

Anna, we put a towel under ours in the event they get messy.

Anna, a pig waterer and a hog pan would definitely be an improvement around here! Not for the cats... but one of the collies tends to forget to close his mouth as he walks away from the water bucket. Hilarious! We just have a couple of gallon buckets, one in the kitchen and one in our bathroom, which the cats seem to be fine with, as well as the dogs. In the summer there are 2 more buckets on the 2 decks outdoors. At times there is an actual line of pets waiting to get a drink from one of the buckets Rolling my eyes.
