Hello,

My name is Justin and I am interesting in gardening, wildflowers, insects, birds ...
I am originally from Romania but now I am American resident living in South Texas.
I want to join forum. I have several pictures of wildflowers that I like to post on this forum. I will like too, to post and pictures of insects, birds and other wildlife pictures. I hope will be OK.
I wish to know some about how to post pictures in forum and if it is some limits about the number of pictures and dimensions. There is a gallery where I could see the images I loaded them and if they can use in different posts without uploading images again?

I am just an amator, so maybe my identification of wildflower and wildlife will need to be confirmed or maybe I don't know yet the name. All new identifications or corrections of identification will be more than welcome and I will be grateful for them.

My writing in English is not very good. If something sounds not good in my posts, is not my intention to offend. So please excuse my English. I hope that through the forum, I will improve my English.

Justin

Hi Justin glade you can join us, If you look up top there is a forum for Butterflies Birds and Bees , you can post pictures of them there and on the bottom of the first group of forums there is one for Wildflowers , I'm sure someone there can help with identifications . As far as other wildlife my thought is the sandbox forum but I'm sure Dave will let you know. Don't worry about your English ,it is a good group of people here and I 'm sure everybody understands . Who out of us uses perfect English anyway. As far as picture size goes ,as long as it was taken with a standard digital camera it should be fine , maybe someone with more knowledge can help you. As far as number of pictures I don't know of any limit. Well once again Welcome.

Welcome Justin...don't worry about your English. We just had a long discussion on another forum about the proper use of singular, plural, adjectives, etcs as it applied to nouns. It was fun.

Welcome! Your can post at least 24 photos at a time, in these forum posts. I think dave said therte was no limit.

When you click on "Upload an Image", some text that looks like this will be added to the bottom of your post:
[ lightbox ]2011-11-10/RickCorey/f8ecdc[ / lightbox ]
You won't see the image until you click "Preview".

If you wnat to display them 2-accross or three-accross, add a few spaces before or after each, then delete the "line feeds" or "carriage returns" until 2-3 block sof "light box text" are on the same line. If the text is on the same line, the images will be displayed in the same horizontal row.

By the way - a more permanent way to contribute photos of plants is to add them to the Plant Database. That way, anyone who searches for that plant in the future will see your pictures.

Go to the Home Page where tyhe banner is visible
click "Plants"
search for the plant variety you have a picture of
click "Upload a photo"

If you're not positive of the exact variety, maybe mention that in a caption. Every database contribution is reviewed by Moderators who will confirm your identification.

Welcome, Justin! There are several people here for whom English is a second (or third!) language. I think it adds so much to the site to hear from people with a different perspective on gardening. Glad you are here!

Welcome Justin, if you resize your photos to 800 x 800 they won't take so long to upload. If you use full size it is very slow to upload each photo. If someone knows the exact resize numbers for Justin please chime in. Sounds like he has a lot of photos and uploading an image could get tedious.

Justin...I'm not certain about your other interests but I know there are people here who will be most helpful and knowledgeable in helping confirm ID's on Wild Flowers. Not me but there are others.

Welcome to the site, Justin!

Looking forward to your photos. (For fastest upload it used to be sizing them to 640 x 480 was the preferred size but maybe with all the new auto-resizing it puts them at that size automatically. Dave or others may know more.)

Again, Welcome to ATP. And Welcome to America!

It does resize them automatically for you. Nevertheless, it is much faster to upload them if you resize them first. Thumbs up

Thanks, Dave. I thought so. When I first got a digital camera some guy on a website years ago told me about the 640 x 480 sizing. Hmm, I think his name was..was...hmmm, might've been "dave". Hilarious!

Hilarious!

800x600 is a better sizing nowadays, BTW. Back then (when we had less gray hair) people didn't have monitors as modern and large as they are now. Makes me wonder what "average" monitors and displays will be like 10 years from now.

Great! Thanks! I'll start using the new-and-improved size now.

I have a large monitor but not a "modern" one. It must be nearly two feet depthwise, like a tv! If I ever get a modern flat screen that sure will give me more space on my desk, eh?

Thanks again,
Shoe (gray hairs? I skipped gray, went straight to blonde)
