@ediblelandscapingsc, I have read for your climate the villosa and in your intense sun they will need more shade. The only one off the top of my head that was developed for the south is Southern Comfort. I have it and it is even doing good in my climate.

Thanks for the tips do you think Electric Lime would also do well in my area since it's an offspring of Southern Comfort?

I looked it up and it does say it is good in heat and humidity. If you try it and the leaves look bleached or/and browning it might need more shade. The sun on light leaves would be the only thing I could see would be a problem. It seemed when I had light leaves they burned easier in my sunny areas.

What you should look for is plants based on Villosa and Americana both do well in the Southeast. Foe Electric Lime you will need to find an area that is bright but no direct sunshine. A few that should work for you are Caramel, Mocha, Brownies, Dales Strain, Berry Smoothie and Mahogany.

@Cinta,

Cinta said:Update.....there is only one that is struggling and probably will not make it through winter is Autumn Leaves.

I bought my first heucheras in 2013. 'Autumn Leaves' was in that group. It is a weak plant compared to the others I have purchased, but it sure has been a survivor in my garden.

Every year it does die all the way back and I think it's gone. Nope. It comes back just fine ... or as well as it can.

Poor thing has been unearthed by a mole, it's been stepped on by a handyman, I was ill one season and it didn't get fed or watered very well.

Yet, it keeps coming back every spring.

Early this summer I had to divide Citronelle. It looked like it was dying. I have never had a Heuchera live long enough to need divided. I have 5 pots of it now and they are doing good. So @NJBob you are right Citronelle is a good Herc. It certainly is a vigorous plant.

All of mine need to be divided. I know it's the wrong time of year, but I'd love to be able to do it now.

Geesh ... when I say "all", it sounds like I have a lot of them. I only have seven.
I'd rather weed than dust ... the weeds stay gone longer.

@RoseBlush1, I have my chest all pushed out because I found a way to keep them alive I now have 25 and a bunch of babies in pots from cuttings.

I was so happy to finally find a way to keep them alive since I love them so much. I love foliage because they look so pretty in the gardens especially this time of the year when nothing is blooming. The only thing I am looking for is a good purple. Forever Purple looks good but every time Santa Rosa puts them on sale that one is sold out.

I had this one for about 3 yrs and it died. It was back in the days when I was buying them like crazy and they were dying fast I stopped even caring what the name was I just wanted them to live.

It was about 5 yrs ago, It was this color from Spring until the first snow flake.

I just wanted to suggest 'Red Lightning' in place of 'Electric Lime.' It is a much better colored and stronger variety.

Not sure Julia , I remember sending you more of the light green ones because I recall you said they were hard to grow in your area. It could be from one of the volunteers I got from Brownies. But my guess it is one of your seedlings from Mardi Gras or French Quarter, seems to have some of that kind of look. Very nice whatever it is.

I agree I agree . Mine are still in pots awaiting the right placing.
How much sunshine/partial shade they prefer?
Also how about their moisture needs?. Here we have natural 3 months long summer drought. Those in pots need watering every other day. But somehow I haven't found them the correct spot for them, because the few that are planted in the ground are in a quite shaded position and are dwindling. That is what makes me ask.
