Have you noticed that you can smell the daylilies before you even open the box? That's a nostalgic aroma for me.

I received two of the three plants I ordered today plus a bonus plant. The third plant was AWOL.
Yes, I did actually smell them before I opened the box.

I ordered double fans of three plants, I received bonus fans on two of the ordered plants plus the bonus plant 'Red Squirrel', not something I would have ordered, but I found the description sent with it very interesting. It was described as being a recurrent scape builder and an endless bud builder that multiplies very rapidly. It was said that the clump I received (8 fans) was lined out as a single fan last year. So I split it into two 4 fan clumps and planted one clump in a very moist area and one in a normally drier area. Waiting to hear if and when the third plant will be mailed.
The plants I did receive were in great shape, 'Red Squirrel' was said to have small but very productive fans. The other two plants had very respectable sized fans. 'Orange Electric' had two large fans and one small fan, and 'The Jury's Out' had seven fans (an instant clump).

Wow, some gardens that will be really nice when all is in bloom.
I have Red Squirel and it did increase in the year it has grown here. It is not everyone's kind of DL but we collect everything.
We have received 3 orders so far from Floyd Cove, Fred (spunky), Floota (LA).
New mini's form Fred and Floyd Cove to use in my mini hybridizing. This was to be a year that we would only add a few. I still have 4 orders to receive the next 2 weeks and I added all for a total of 78 daylilies. Some new ones some old ones and most are not expensive plants. I am trying to put one list together so Ashton can get them added to our plant list. I ordered from some places that I have never gotten plants before because there were some on our want lists. Hopefully the plants will be nice and true to name. Can't find feedback on these places but I have stepped out into unknown gardens and ordered daylilies before and never had a problem.
The daylilies are looking great now. Several bud stalks after some drought busting rain. We are under a flood warning for tomorrow. 3-7 inches of rain forecast. I don't know if they can predict this or not but no issue with flooding at our place. A foot of rain would not hurt on this sandy hill.

I got two plants from Sonjamae on the Lily Auction today. I got Eye Chiwawa and Lady Alvatine. Last spring I was looking for a large yellow plant with ruffled edges. Gene Wynn suggested Lady Alvatine and it did well for me, ...decided to get another double fan. The bonus was an extra fan of Eye Chiwawa.



Hopefully I will have blooms like these in a few weeks!

Some great looking plants in the above posts! I've got numerous daylilies that I have had for 1 or 2 years that have yet to bloom. Glad to hear some daylilies just take some time to settle in before they perform.

I am also a plant addict, what can I say?? It is so easy to sit around in winter and order bulbs since it's too cold out to do anything else. I start looking to see what I NEED for spring!!

Waiting on one more big order from Florida that I will pick up next week (meeting in Columbia, so I hope to get to another DL place while I'm in that area), plus 2 DL farms near me that I visit in bloom season. Not to mention the 500-600 seedlings raised in the greenhouse this winter that I need to plant. Will be doing that this week though--the bed's almost ready.

My family thinks I'm nuts!! BUT my dear husband just goes along with me and sits in the shade while I shop for flowers.

same here. As long as I do the work he's good with it. I ask if he saw such and such blooming and I get the deer in the headlights look. I then have to describe it to him and nope - didn't notice As long as he doesn't care what I plant I'm good

Today I received my order from Spacecoast.

I ordered a single fan of 'Spacecoast Little Red Riding Hood' and received a fan that is dividing into 6 fans!
The double fan of 'Sp. Cheese Whiz' is dividing into 7 fans.
A gift of 'The Green Mile' was included.


Needless to say... I'm very happy with this order!
