I looked back to see if we had started a box thread for 2017 and didn't see one. If there is one my apologies.

I got my Tempo Two order in via Mid-America!! I won't post the order again but I did get some lovely bonuses. When I'm on my computer I will post some wiki links. Unfortunately no database pics here since they are new intros.

I spent three hours last night potting everything up...exhausting!

Thank You! I was pleasantly surprised how good they looked even after being out of the ground for so long. I gave them a nice soaking before potting.

My order from Tempo Two arrived yesterday. Thank you Tom Johnson for facilitating this!!
A small order but I got Handful of Magic as a gift! After a soak overnight they're in the prepared bed.
There was a bit of a glitch...I'd ordered Soul Singer, but got Songsmith...and I had a few minutes of disappointment, until I looked up Songsmith in the catalog. What a beauty! Tom said it was one that really impressed him. I'm keeping it!. The form is outstanding.
I'd seen a photo of Soul Singer that grabbed me with the deep shade of blue..but, some other time. I'm happy. Hurray!

I get my Tempo Two order tomorrow. If only, I were to be so lucky to get Songsmith by mistake! 🤗
So you soaked them in water overnight and planted directly on the ground? The forecast for Delaware this coming week is between 24 and 53 degrees 😱 Maybe I could just wait another week as the forecast looks a lot better then.

Oh I wouldn't recommend planting them in the ground with east coast freezing temps. Mine are all inside in pots. Remember they just came from summer temps since we have opposite seasons. West coasters have much milder weather right now so it's safer to plant outside there.

It was 71 degrees here in N. CA today. We've had a very mild winter with no freezing in the future forecast. (we did have ice on the dog water bowl out on the deck, back in, I think, January). We'll have rain in the coming week. Temps predicted to be in the '60's..
Ordinarily, I'd have potted up the Tempo Two irises, but with this weather and the nice new bed, I'm feeling confident with direct planting now.

Enjoys or suffers cold winters
yes, our area is up to 47° for 2 days & then back down to 30°. So irises won't be outside soon. Liz the ISM tour is in Stoneham June 3. I am sure it will be posted on the web site massirises.org well before then. the sale is Aug 29 at Verill Farms in Concord.

bonus: 'handful of magic' tb 37" 2015 late; peach/wht. amoena (no photo)

got two rhizomes of something, but it was too exciting....didn't register in the brain, gotta go out to check which one? capt. thunderbolt! Hurray! i'll plant one in the front the other in back. i have a 10 - 15 deg. swing in front or in back. front can be that much colder all times of the year.

back is sw facing, front is ne facing. the irises in the front have done much better in the ground. the back ones in the ground....mehh. i also have probs w/gophers [edited to add: in the backyard], and so far the cottontails in the front have not discovered the irises. so far, they've[ edited: the bunnies] eaten my [crystal palace]lobelia to nubs. Grumbling

but the irises in pots have bloomed their heads off. (mind you, that may only be one stalk, but i have seen bloom Hilarious! , and they're not clumps, yet. hopefully next year)
