oerickson, I would love foxglove if you have any left to spare.

LinneaL, If you have phlox that hasn't been spoken for, I would like some, please. I may grab an eggplant or two if I don't have seedlings by the swap; my seeds are being stubborn it seems.

pitimpinai, I will bring swiss chard and California poppies for you.

VerdantApt, I will pot up Black Eyed Susans for you.

Hello everyone. I have never been to the seed/plant swap but I think it would be a good idea to post your location as in town that you live in. It is obvious that most of you know each other from prior swap. The reason why I mention this is because I have several of the items that some are looking for that has multiplied immensely. I probably wont be able to make it to the swap because the forty plus mile one way trip would be impossible for me around that time. To add your location just go to the little blue guy at the top right corner and edit your profile to add location. I have Oriental Poppies (now is not a good time to divide them), Bee Balm, pink cone flower, blackeyed susan, etc.

Mike, your gardens are just beautiful! We would love to have you at the swap, but I completely understand you not wanting to make the drive on a Friday afternoon/evening. If you ever happen to want to make a visit to the Chicago Botanic Gardens, I am in walking distance and would gladly provide you a place to park to avoid the garden fees (and should you happen to want to bring any extra echinacea, poppies, irises, peonies, etc. you have around, I wouldn't mind ;)

I'm new to the site and to gardening. How does the swap work? I really only have hostas and daylilies though :(
Anyone in the Naperville area?

@Blosky2001 refer back to the very post on page one about how it works. Simply put you bring something to trade and leave with something you can use, be it plants, seeds or otherwise.
@Happygardener23 you have a deal. I have been thinking about visiting the garden this year. I will let you know. Conversely, if you are in the southern suburbs you can always stop by and help yourself. I am located less than five minutes from I-294 and I-57.
@Blosky2001 are your daylilies named daylilies ?

Hi there,
Yes, this swap is annual event and some people do know each other. We started years ago from our houses as some people were in Tomato group, some from Wintersowing group on gardenweb. Hard to think that Esther, neighbor whose yard we used to run swap is now gone 4 years. We have been at Evanston UCE since then. No specific rules, bring what you can to share and take something you like to grow. Plants, seedlings, divisions, garden items. We like newbies and there are lots of very experienced gardeners. If you have no plants to share maybe plate of cookies for our small refreshment table will do.
Mike, I love abundance of your garden! If you decide to take a day off, visit Botanic Garden and stop by the garden swap that would be fantastic! Otherwise I will be in Palos Heights May 21 and will be happy to accept any donations should you decide to share some of your bounties. I have decent number of heirloom tomato seedlings if you grow any.

Thanks for the info.
I'm trying to grow Gaillardia and arctic fire dianthus indoors so I may have some of those.

@Hazelcrestmikeb named daylilies? I'm assuming you're asking if they're special in some way? If so, I have no idea.

#Oerickson Palos Heights is about twenty five minutes from me. Will there be a garden event there ?
@Belosky2001 I was just asking if they were registered daylilies.

VerdantApt, sorry for late reply the week went very busy. I bought the Raspberry few years back but don't remember the name. It is red one and will bloom in may-june. I have few seedlings. Is it ok if I bring them in swap? Not sure if I get time before the swap since things are going crazy.

Mone, thanks for leucojum. Will bring christmas cactus both colors. Don't have much but few segments and they will root easily.

rolrod, will bring creeping jenny.

Happygardener, may I have Black eyed Susan please? Would you like Oriental Poppy Brilliant red seeds?

oerickson, may I have Foxglove excelsior and Ornithogalum nutans Star of Bethlehem please? I sure love some eggplants, pepper and tomatoes.

LinneaL, may I have Golden Tiara hosta and Luneria varigata?

Thank you so much.

--
I have some petunia seedlings. They are tiny and look ok right now.
-False sunflower Heliopsis seedlings.

Happygardener23 : Thank you!

Jasmine : If you're not able to meet before the swap to exchange the raspberries, that's ok. I'll appreciate the raspberries whenever you're able to give them to me. Smiling Please feel free to private message me if something changes.

I'd also like Christmas/holiday cactus cuttings if there's enough to go around and the flowers are red. I bought a holiday cactus (perhaps Thanksgiving?) from Trader Joe's with pink-ish flowers several months ago. However, all the buds dropped, so I'm not sure of the color. The plant is only four inches wide, so the cuttings will be relatively short. Thanks!

Thanks to happygardner23 for the black-eyed susans and monarda

Thanks to Linneal for ALPINE COLUMBINE AND MONARDA

Thanks to Pitimpinai for the ECHINACEA.

Will these be labeled with my name "plantfan" at the swap?

Looking forward to this next swap!

Yes, we usually put whatever name is on the thread as it simpler for everyone. I have bamboo fence we might have to put around to specify the area visually.
Mike,no such luck, will be traveling for family celebration but this is as close as it gets to your area. Unless of course I am going to Grant Park, love their nursery, Sunrise greenhouse.
Few founding members have been coming regularly from NW Indiana and west burbs.
Weather once again, not very welcoming, sustained some frost damage to tomatoes overnight in hoophouse. Will be hauling everything indoor tonight.

I'm (fairly) new to Evanston and I have mostly empty garden beds! I think the old owners thought the house would be more appealing with entirely empty garden beds. I am so excited for this event! But I don't have plants to swap except maybe some tiny chive seedlings I started outside... maybe they will be a bit bigger by then though. I will bring some snacks and maybe some seed packets? I don't want to be too much of a mooch.

I'm interested in hellebores, clematis, columbines, bleeding hearts, hydrangeas (especially climbing hydrangea), bee balm, echinacea, forget me nots, raspberries, butterfly bush/milkweed, Cardinal flower and other lobelia, sedum, phlox, vinca/periwinkle...and probably lots of other things as well.

I realize that this list is probably a bit ridiculous but I thought I'd just make my dream wish list and see what happens.

VerdantApt, ok for Christmas cactus red flowered. May I have the pink one please?

lgoffen, will bring christmas cutting.

My cutting would be short too since they grow pretty slow.

Hi, I have ostrich ferns and elderberry saplings I want to dig out of my yard soon.Feel free to get them before the swap..I am in Skokie. I also have cup plants, but they naturalize like crazy and get quite big (they are a prairie plant), so you may not want them.

EvanstonNewb, welcome!
No problem with big lists LOL we all have them. Am sure there will be plenty to take home off your list.
JudySkokie, are you planning on coming for the swap and bringing plants or you would rather someone came to your house prior? I think those plants would be most welcome by many, so if you rather remove them now I will be happy to come and keep plants for the swap. Otherwise please stop by at the swap, it is a lot of fun!
Additionally was digging out today
Anemone Robotussima, it is tough to transplant but now is good time for it.
If anyone interested providing lots of TLC, I have tiny seedlings of Clematis viticella Minuet. They will bloom next year.
Also Coreopsis Sunrise seedlings.
Common phlox, pink.
I can probably dig a piece of akebia quinata if anyone intersted.
