What brand of camer you are using? I want to buy a good camera can capture the color more accurately.

Oldgardenrose said:My back yard Kansas. I noticed by just putting a name on the pic, it was reduced from 4.65MB to 1.06MB in file size. Does not appear to affect the image quality at that level. I used the 18 Mp setting on the camera which is supposed to produce a maximum file size of 6.4MB. Interesting useless info.

My primary camera is now a Canon EOS Rebel T-6. It is a good entry level DSLR and is as cheap as most P&S cameras. Mine was on sale for Christmas @ $449.00 for a kit including an 18-55mm IS lens, an additional 75-300mm lens, and a nice carrying bag. I think it is on sale again with the same extra goodies. I switch the flash to off since it will flare some colors. As with most cameras, the best pics are taken without full sunlight. I just use the other auto settings except for setting the auto focus to "quick mode". The default focus seems to lock onto items in the frame instead of the flower, for instance. All this does not mean a good P&S camera will not take good pictures; the DSLR is more adaptable by changing to a wide range of lenses if needed.

The Canons are usually price controlled and would be the same no matter where one buys them. A point to remember is, if the ad or list does not contain the phrase "Canon USA" or says "imported", there is no American warranty on the product. I deal with B&H photovideo and they always specify the difference.

Check them out, they have about anything anyone would want.

Your photos are really wonderful! The peonies I have didn't do very well this year, I guess the freeze after early warm weather caused that. Or maybe the really mild winter? I miss them, but maybe they will do extra well next year. At least I can look at your photos and enjoy .

At least in our area, this has been a terrible late Winter and early Spring as far as peonies are concerned. The constantly changing weather from well above normal to freezing has been a challenge for any Spring plant.

It has been a challenging year here too. Some peonies have done fine while others have been effected by the very warm temps in February only to get very cold for weeks upon weeks afterward. it has had an effect.

Even with the measures I took to protect from cold I had several losses as well. Always a challenge but the blooms that we do get are enough to make it worthwhile!

I am looking for a picture I can use in my peony workshop at the botanical garden - Fragrans. @oldrosegarden, Jerry, do you have one I could use? It would be much appreciated. Trying to get people to see peonies as part of history not just 'another pretty face'

This is Fragrans obtained in a group buy, handled by Tracey as best I remember, from Hollingsworth in 2010. The clump has not been dug since planting and is fairly large. I do not want to make any more commitments until they are all dug but there should be several divisions.

I plan to dig all the gift peonies about Aug 15. That will give time for them to settle in before cold weather in the Northern states. The requests will be on a first ordered basis but most of the requests should be filled.

Watering my keeper peonies in the backyard. The neighbor's huge oak tree gives some shade part of the day but it is dry as a bone here. Peonies begin to wilt when the ground cracks open and the temp reach 90°+.

Hope you get some rain soon! We've been very fortunate here so far with rain and cooler than normal temps, very nice for a June. I keep expecting that to change, but enjoying it while it lasts.

I had forgotten your nifty way to water peonies. We don't have the heat nor the lack of rain so I don't think it would be a good idea for me to set up a system like ours. Might be tempted to do so for some of my bushes though. I don't water them nearly enough. Course their roots go way deeper so maybe they don't need it the way things with roots that only go down a few feet do.

This is Roselette. Each year it goes dormant it appears to be covered in mildew or something like that. Never harms the plant since it always looks great and flowers exceptionally well each Spring.
