longk, your Roscoea scillifolia is fascinating, so dark and unusual! I agree about amaryllis flowering outdoors, they're always sturdier and have an overall healthier appearance without those long stems that want to flop. Although I do have some that insist on flowering in late winter (I'll typically happen to notice a bud arising from the dry pot), which do at least provide some blooms when I'm desperate to see some color. The same plants will often flower again while outside for the summer.
