I was also going to say that the second one looks like poppies. Poppy seeds are tiny and get everywhere, just so you know. I usually wrap my hands around the seed pod and sort of pop off the poppy seed pod whole. I think, with mine, I let it dry for two days before I opened up the seed pod, but I don't recall offhand.

Guys, I think I am bowing out of the seed swap. I'm only 11 varieties of pepper seeds away from my goal for next year, which is to grow at least 2 plants of 100 varieties. I'm not that into flowers, yet. My peppers take up the majority of my focus and next year the majority of my garden space, too. I appreciate every single one of you for the help and knowledge you all have shared Smiling
If anybody wants or needs pepper seeds for next year, send me a treemail..I'm your man. Again thank you, have fun and happy growing Smiling

@JErb, sorry to see you go. I understand the shortage of space for plants, for sure. I might recommend that you try the seed swap just for the fun of it, though and see what you think... It costs less than a movie ticket to participate and it is loads of fun to be a part of. I am obviously bias, though, Rolling my eyes. so I would encourage you to ask the others in the group...I think you will find that most of us are in it just as much for the fun of it as for the seeds themselves.

(Most of us don't grow all the seeds we get anyway, we have to pick and choose, but having them on hand for when you CAN grow them is nice.)

Also, many of us collect seeds for far more than flowers.

And, perhaps most importantly to you...if you practice companion planting to increase yield, maximize pest resistence, etc., then you may want to be planting basil, sunflowers, onions, clover, tomatoes, petunias, and beans around them.... Things for which we definitely see seeds in the swap for (except, perhaps, clover) . Thumbs up

Just checking in to say hello to everyone. The swap is still a few months out, but don't let it sneak up on you! Now is the mental prep time...

1) What do I have in my garden that should produce seeds by the end of the season?
2) Do I have the supplies I need to bag the seeds? (In all likelihood, you have the sharpies/pens/computer labels already for labelling, but if need or want small baggies or envelopes to put your seeds in, start shopping around for those over the next month or two so you have them when the seeds are ready.)
3) Did I put the seed swap on my calendar so I can be sure to be available, particularly at the "start" times the first few days? (Once it begins, the swap time is continuous, but the flurry of activity primarily happens when the tickets are awarded each day, so it helps to plan to be in the swap at that time.)

I'm excited to swap with all of you this year! I will check in with everyone more as the time approaches. In the meantime, I hope you are all having a wonderful summer (or other season, for our international friends)!

That's a crazy video it's a good thing peppers where proved not to cause ulcers. I once ate a whole habanero and puked shortly after. Some peppers just get so hot they taste like poison and I guess my body treated it as such. You both looked like you handled it well. Thumbs up

Off camera was brutal for a good 10 mins. I ran to the back yard, dry heaved for a solid 5 mins. Then zombie walked to the garden hose and made out with the shower setting for another 5 mins. There was a split second I thought " Im going to die" lmao..she just stood there hiccupping..little monster

After the heat finally subsided, I was....idk how to explain it...like high?? Super endorphin rush I suppose. I'll never eat a raw chocolate bhutlah ever again lol that heat is just unnecessary, but I'll grow them ;) saved the seeds

I have ripe reapers, I'll probably give them a go on vid this coming week
I'll post it in here if I do

I agree. That's crazy. I thought about growing some for my husband and son. Not going to happen. It would be a waste of my time and hard work, lol. Glad you got through that ok though.

Welcome! Cole! Glad to have you!

If you haven't already, please go to the Seed Wants thread and list any types of seed you particularly want. You can be as general or specific as you like.

Usually if you list things you want people will go out of their way to offer at least some of them for you. So don't be shy!

Hi All,

I'm late checking in, but Karen did message me when sign up went up (thank you, Karen!) so I got that done early :D

Been quite the spring/summer here for many reasons. Had my knee surgery, it's been 4 months. Each week was progress, it was interesting to see, and when I have the other done (putting off as long as I can), I'll know what to expect. Graduated PT a week or 2 ago. Still working on exercises tho. PT says at 9 months, I "wont even think about it".

In mid June, I took my 13 yr old shih tzu to the vet on Sunday (ER) because I thought she had a bladder infection...she was diagnosed with diabetes! That was a shocker, but think we have her regulated for the most part, it's a constant "watch" situation.

Other misc. stuff going on, back to work, family stuff, weird garden weather. My knee surgery didnt allow me to do much til mid/late July and that was just a bit, pacing myself. I'm now in full swing trying to get potted things (did deck planting in May/June) in the ground by Oct.

I hope this finds you all well, and look forward to the swap!! :D
