I also ordered the 2011 Fall Mini Collection and can't wait to get it. We have an upper back yard that we have to go up five steps to get to, but in the front it's about hip-height for me (although most of it is taken up with our oriental garden), and that's where I've planted my standard dwarf bearded irises and mini daylilies by the steps so I can enjoy them closer to eye-height. It's, of course, getting pretty crowded there now so I think I'm going to have to move some of the dwarf irises out of that spot to accommodate all the new minis I've ordered.

I also ordered from Floyd Cove the following for this spring:

CRIMSON EDGINGS
ELFIN MAGIC
ICICLES (new intro)
LITTLE BLUE ANGEL
SPACECOAST IRISH ILLUMINATION (2nd plant -- I really love this one!)
WATER DROPS
LITTLE LEPRECHAUN
LITTLE SHOWMAN
BRIDEY GREESON (just added this one to my order last week)

I'm hoping they will ship my order next month, and I can't wait! They always send the best plants!

Doris, welcome!

You and Betty are correct, I need to put them in a raised bed. Which means they may be potted initially, and crossing my fingers & hoping that I can pull the front of the house evergreen bushes mid summer, and put a raised bed in there. (it's on a slope, so I have to landscape, just can't pull out the bushes) Good comment about putting them in raised bed. Now cross your fingers I can redo that area - last summer I ended up removing a couple of trees that died suddenly instead. ~Jan

Here is what I have coming this spring from Floyd Cove. I will just put the pictures here so you can see them. All pics of course are by the hybridizer.

WOW, those are all spectacular! I recognize some of them from the 2012 introductions page, but are most of them new ones? I got XYLOPHONE JAZZ in the fall, I'm pleased to say. Those are sooooooo beautiful!!!

I didn't take my Xylophone Jazz this fall, I'm waiting for it next spring, when I'm sure I won't lose it. Besides they are usually so much bigger in the spring. They are all 2012's except for Picotee Prism which is spring 2011.

Betty, I was skeptical that Bridey Greeson would not be as beautiful blooming in the garden as the hybridizer's picture. When it first bloomed in our garden a few years ago, I was astonished. It looked just like the hybridizer's picture. BG is one of my favorite daylilies. I also love what the eye does in Water Drops. I am glad to hear that you really like SC Irish Illumination. That is one that I had been wavering on. I will have to give it another thought.

Dot, you certainly have some new beauties for your garden. It is hard to pick a favorite. We will be looking forward to seeing pictures from your garden. Spring is not that far away for those in the south. One of our daylily clubs is trying to schedule Guy Pierce as a speaker in 2012. After seeing the new intros, I hope this happens because he will bring some his intros for auction.

It is amazing as many cultivar that have already come to be that there are such beautiful ones still being brought forward. I think that is one thing that I find so fascinating about DL. The gene pool seems endless. Those are such beautiful blooms and several Hybridizers are working towards rust resistant varieties and all the new forms.
That being said I can envision some of the above being taken to other forms with the patterns in them.
For those that have not seen Doris's property you are in for a spectacular treat this year as it is remarkable. Can't wait to see it again myself as it is everchanging. She has the most beautiful Lady Banks ( I believe that is the name>) rose you have ever seen.

Thanks, Steph! It is a yellow Lady Banks rose. You are right about our place being everchanging. Sometimes when we are in the midst of making a new bed and moving daylilies around, I wish that I could be content to just leave things as they are. But, I have to admit that I enjoy making new beds and adding new daylilies to our garden. We are an AHS Display Garden. IF we had the space I would like to add some of these new Floyd Cove intros; but we don't, so there is no need to entertain that thought. I will just enjoy knowing that others here will be growing them and will share their pictures with us.

You are so right about all the possibilities of daylilies. It is exciting to think about all the endless gene combinations that are possible. Who knows what one may get when he/she makes a certain cross! That is what keeps hybridizers trying.

Hi Ann! I love your new intros! Congratulations!

I will post some pictures once I get this FINAL bed of daylilies planted. Yes, it is January and I am still planting daylilies. This winter has been so mild here and in other areas, I hear. This is not our typical winter. We have daylilies in pots that did not get planted in the fall. I have completely emptied a 75 daylily bed and relocated them to other areas. We have created another new bed with over 100 daylilies which is finished except for the mulch. I plan to move all our toothy daylilies and TET UFs and spiders still in pots to the emptied bed. The TET UFS coming in April from Judy Davisson must go here, too. I am on the downhill side finally! I should have learned my lesson of no more large numbers of daylilies to plant! Oh, no, our spring arrivals are growing...Got to DOWNSIZE SOON!!! This summer we must make some serious choices of which daylilies to keep and which to move out. After all, there are future daylilies from Floyd Cove and other hybridizers to add in the years to come.

Welcome Doris - glad you found us again! I wish I had Tet UFs coming from Judy! A couple friends have some of her plants and I am finding I really like them! One of my friends gave me a small, slip of a fan that fell of when he was dividing. It is LOUD GIRLS, which I really admired in his garden. It grew well last summer, so I hope it blooms next year! It was a tiny thing when we planted it.

I Lovey dubby Judy's LITTLE BIG EARS. I don't add many daylilies anymore, but I would love to get my hands on LBE!

Thanks, Juli! It is good to be here among so many who were on DG. I have fallen in love with Judy's UFs. I got a bunch from her this past fall and have 17 coming from her this spring, including 3 of her new intros. I love really big blooms and plan to hybridize with hers and others in our garden. LOUD GIRLS is not one that we have. I'll have to get it. I told Judy that I had to leave some for another year. Her LITTLE BIG EARS is one that I want, too. Maybe next year...
