Fascinating. Phil is getting lots of well deserved attention. He sure seems happy in his new home. Linda... would you want to write a little All Things Plants about Phil? Flowers he likes and how you discourage him. Pictures and story are so cute! Favorite foods (frozen corn), things you're trying with him. I think the leaves bedding is genius. Worrying about predators... it's the owls I'd worry about. I guess if something startles him he'll let you know in the middle of the night. Chilling. Sad Nitey nite, Phil... see you in the morning!

NOTICE ~~~~

I took the liberty of changing the name of this thread to:

PHANS of PHIL the PHEASANT.

Phil started on page two... I think that gives him "squatting rights" to a thread of his own.

Are we OK with that?

I am not sure Susie. Crying I put out his corn, luttuce, and grain before we left for church this morning but he did not show up. When we returned about 1:00 his plate was empty but he has some Dove 'groupies' that have been helping themselves to his food so I am not sure who ate it.

Last we saw of him was early last evening. He had flown up on a stack of blocks and was kind of trying to balance on an over turned wire basket hanger. He kept glancing up at the top of the fence like he was wanting to fly off. Later I saw him run across the dirt area of the yard and scare a
dove up into a tree. He was just being kind of goofy !

I just went and made a quick check before sending this and there was mysterious Phil standing at his empty food bowl. He is ok. Hurray!

Hurray! I'm so happy that Phil is alive and well. I guess he doesn't like to share his food with those doves. Hilarious!

Linda the balancing act sounds like that emoticon I sent you and said it looked like the pheasant was going to barf, too bad I can't post it here. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Phil's phans are waiting for another publicity shot!!! Whistling Green Grin!

Actually Margaret he did look like that emoticon !! Just rocking back and forth !! Rolling on the floor laughing

He has been kind of nervous lately so getting near with the camera is a bit stressing to him. Maybe later this week when he is doing something worthy of a photo. Hilarious! Rocking on that wire basket last night would have been a good one, though. Rolling my eyes.

You know, I was thinking last night that Phil may not hang around too much longer. It's getting on to mating season for birds & Phil may be mature enough to hear the call of the wild if you know what I'm saying. Tame or not tame; all creatures feel those urges & answer the instinct when the time comes. That could also explain the odd behavior he's exhibited of late. Just saying........
