Thanks Lynn for sharing your experience and Bev for finding Kevin's quote. When you put the 2 comments together it begins to make more sense. I guess we just have to accept that it is a somewhat variable phenomena within the varieties that are genetically prone to it and enjoy it when it happens.

Jo Ann, I keep waiting for 'Fuego' to do a repeat of the color show it put on in 2010.


When everything comes together they can hold their own against any other plants in our gardens, for color.

'Fuego' rocks the house. Mine was solid fire-engine red in Spring. Look at her now. I guess I've gone off topic.

Fuego's watermarks are not very distinct, very faint, and only for a short time.

Lynn My Fuegos all look like your second pic. It always fades in summer for me and then gets very dark red with blue green tips in winter. Sometimes has an even darker ring of color in center in winter. No watermarks here either. We will have to put Fuego in the post for "great winter color". Tim that's a really nice clump .

Wow... that 'Red Rum' and Lynn's are awesome. Comparing those with mine... I yet again wonder... is mine an impostor?

Tim, show us a photo of your 'Red Rum'. Remember how much difference location, soil and moisture can make.

I find this one difficult to grow, rotting issues.
