This pic is from Sempervivum liste . Mine gets even darker than this in the winter because I have, over the years selected for the most saturated color.

I haven't had any problems with my 'Red Rum' since I moved it into sandy loam soil with lots of chicken grit top dressing.

Here's my 'Red Rum'. Now that I take a look at it in the sunshine it does seem to have the characteristic watermarks. The colors aren't as spectacular... but it does seem consistent. And I know it will thrive because in is in the area of my semp garden that I refer to as "The Circle".

Yep, that sure enough is 'Red Rum', and I can see the watermarks.

I see watermarks there Tim and some other very good looking semps in the background of the pic too.

I haven't had any problems with Red Rum. It, and others, seem redder than ever this year. Love it!

I had tried to tweak the pics a little to get the watermarks to show up more but it just made the photos worse so I left the original ones in. Thank you all for having such the good eyes!

I wonder if those watermarks will develop into deeper tones. Keep us updated.

Yes, some of the rollers do get watermarks. I'll try to find some in the morning before I go to work.

Here's Butterbur with great marks!

Patty, I think I like this watermark shown the Best of All. Butterbur's watermark pattern reminds me of a sort of art called Op Art that was coined In the 60's. Remember that?

OK OK! So yes I remember Op Art I had an Op Art dress that came in a can and never wrinkled. Fab!
