My 3 foot tall stick: "Pink variegated Maya" sure is slow to wake up this year... Are variegated usually s-l-o-w growers?

In my experience, yes they are slow growers. After they get well established they do better.

FINALLY ! After moving my semi-dormant Plumerias outside on April 3rd I just found a 1" mini-leaf sticking up from my Variegated Maya Smiling guess this 90F weather woke it up... ALL of my others are way ahead of this one. it's in a 12" clay pot.

I have 3-4 Maya and I noticed a few days ago one of mine has not leafed out either. This morning I saw some tiny leaf growth on that one too. Way behind the other variegated plumeria.

Fortunately my Maya is robust with 4 full leaves. She seemed to really go at it after receiving 15 " of flooding rain in 4 hours? Thank goodness for well draining soil, right? She sits in the corner behind several other plumeria. "No one puts baby in the corner!" . I'm moving her up front and center!! Thumbs up One of my faves for sure!

Platinum. Probably the lightest color leaves out there. I don't know how hardy it is but I have had it over a year and it is doing pretty good so far. I do protect it from the late afternoon sun.

Nice Michael! I really love seeing the blooms on them. I sure hope mine blooms this year only because I want it to branch and be lush. I just love the unreal color of the light green. My little variegated adenium is looking good but still growing super slow. I thought I was going to lose it over the winter but it bounced back after being shriveled down to almost nothing.

I just got three variegated adeniums from Thailand with some new variegated plumeria. Been wanting some for a couple of years. They are just starting to get leaves. Pictures later. May order some more before it gets too late in the year. Your adenium is very pretty Audrey. Can you tell me the name? Thanks.

She is a tiny two year old I grew from seed. I suppose I could and should name her huh? The seed I bought that created that variegation was a random thing. It was a beautiful triple obesum of some sort. I ended up with several white ones(all but one died) from that batch and this little beauty ended up producing enough food factory genes to carry on life, although much much more slowly. I have six month old seedlings that have surpassed her growth at two years old. I look forward to seeing your three new babes.

It does exist but I don't know anyone in the US that sells them. You might ask Josh at Twisted Tropical if he can get one. I imported mine myself with some other plumeria and variegated adeniums.

Karen. Josh does know where to find one. Send him an email and see if he is going to place another order before winter. I can order you one next year maybe. The vendor is very slow to respond sometimes.

Aussie Pink. It is kind of unusual compared to a lot of other varieties. More of a subtle variegation. Still a young plant so maybe the blooms will improve a bit.

Hi all,

Thank you Michael for sharing all of these, so many healthy looking plants! I wanted to share my one and only seedling that is variegated. It is now one year old and a seedling from Maung Sanjiam. As you may be able to see. Only one side of the tree is variegated. the other is all green.
