James I have a very poor sense of smell so I have not noticed a fragrance.
Thank you Karen. I just noticed my finger is in two of the pictures. Sorry about that. I am a terrible photographer.

Variegated Siam Red inflo. Thai name is Daeng Sayam. I have purchased several other variegated plumeria from Thailand and will post pictures of them as they leaf out.

I don't see that as being variegation. White veins are quite common.

Michael , you have some really beautiful plants. Thumbs up Thanks, for sharing all your photos. I have one a friend gave me as a small cutting. Would you have any idea what it might be? The person she got it from was unsure about the bloom color. it starts out pink and green, white/green, and finally yellow/green.

Thank you Karen and Audrey.
Audrey my best guess comparing it to my variegated plants would be Gold Unya but I really don’t know. Mine has not bloomed yet so I am not sure about the flower. Pictures of the variegated plumeria flowers are hard to find at least for me. Harder than the leaf colors. The green on your leaves seem a little pale but I think that is just the lighting in the picture you took. It is a beautiful plant.
I have some new ones but I am not having a lot of luck with them leafing out and have lost a couple. Very slow. Next time I won’t buy any in the fall. I knew not to but could not resist.

Thank you Michael for taking a guess for me. You are right, there just really is not much info about them on the web. Do you have any favorite web sites that go into any detail on the different variegated plumeria? I will try and get a better picture of mine this week. It has grown so much since I got it as a tiny little nub.

Audrey I don’t think there is any one good site on variegated plumeria, at least not that I have found. I have hunted for the last two years. You just have to go from seller to seller and see if you can find any information. There is a website called Heliconia Paradise that is owned by a man named Joerg Pein. He has also written a book called Plumeria of Thailand that has a few listed. A good friend of mine, another NGA member, gave me a copy. I have communicated with him several times and he said I probably know more about them than he does. I doubt that since he is an expert. I wish I could offer you more info but there just isn’t much.

Hmmmm...... it sounds like you need to get started on a book in the next few years Hilarious! It is great you started this thread because at least now there will be a little bit more information out there on the web for people who are searching. I look forward to seeing your collection mature and bloom Thumbs up

Audrey I am too old and too forgetful to write a book. Brain radiation kind of destroyed my short term memory. I hope I am around long enough to see all these plants mature and bloom. Maybe a few more that come along also. I have become very attached to them, even more so than when I had hundreds of orchids.
I really like the look of pebbles in your pots. I think it was Tin that does the same thing to adeniums. I have wanted to add some to my plants and even bought a bag but I read somewhere that it increases the chances of sunburn on the stem. Have you had any problems? Thanks.

I have heard that as well, but I have never seen it being a problem. I dress my adeniums and plumeria with pea gravel, lava rock, various large decorative stones, and sometimes glass. I also have most of them in all day sun on a hot deck in Texas. Shrug! I don't know sometimes someone will have that happen because they did not acclimate them well in the spring, blamed it on the rocks, and then said story spreads like wildfire, and everyone then believes that. That's my theory anyways.
Oh, but I have heard of several people using the colored aquarium rocks and they fused together in the sun. Thumbs down I will take some pictures tomorrow to show all the above examples. Personally I do not like seeing the dirt and it helps keep it from splashing out and making a mess when I water. It gives a clean finished look like mulch on a freshly planted bed. If it is a new or rooting plant I usually have a larger sized stone partially buried so that when I am in doubt I can lift it up and check moister levels. Sedums and portulaca make nice toppings also.

Here are some photos as promised. Sorry, not the best photos. It was really bright outside this morning. They are good enough to see the examples though.

Karen sea glass would be beautiful. I have recently been pricing sea glass. Ouch, that stuff has gotten expensive. Glass slag rocks have also gone way up and are a lot harder to find these days. Please show us a pic after you dress up your pots with the sea glass.

Sea glass has gone up in price over the years. You could probably gather some up if you ever get to Padre Island, California, Hawaii or the Caribbean. Most beaches used to be dump areas in the old days so they have sea glass.

I agree about the slag too. I used to be able to buy it for 50 cents a pound, and now it is up to $5 a pound and more.

I will have to top dress some pots with seaglass.

Audrey you have some beautiful plants and I really like the different toppings on the soil. I am going to try some pebbles on a few of my plants and see what happens. I have over 100 plumeria and I am down to about 30 adeniums after giving many away. Plenty to experiment with.
