I got power back at around 1 am last last after been out for over 15 hours! As far as I can tell our neighborhood was the only one without power. We had to go out for a hot dinner so drove around a bit.

The gas furnace doesn't work without electricity and everything else is electric so we put clean warn clothes on and went to bed. I was still cold, but it got down to 18 last night outside so the house got cold.

I bet the fish in my aquariums will all be sick in a day or two. Oh well. At least the wind died down. I'll offload my indoor semp pics and put them in the general thread.

I am so happy to hear that your power is back.
A few years ago we had the same thing happen. It was in the teens and we were without power for two days. Luckily we could get a little heat from the gas cook stove. Our heat is gas, but it won't work without electricity.
Are you getting toasty warm now?

Can hardly believe that about 6 seeds have germinated outside in the pot where I sowed the Semp seeds **last month***.

Had read that they like cold stratification, so gave them a try.

When they are bigger I'll get a photo.

Hurray! Janice I can hardly wait to see your babies. This is very exciting. I gathered a bunch of seed from Semps and Jovis last fall, all mixed together. I should sow some on a nursery flat and see what happens.

Lynn, right now they are teeny little microscopic green shoots with 2 minscule leaves.... hoping they aren't something else left by a bird or seeds blown in...

Yes! give some a try in the cold .... Thumbs up

We had quite a downpour then cold overnight and wondered if the little seedling sprouts were still standing and they are still ok, the brave little fellows. This winter sowing works so very well! I will get some pics soon.

Here are the little fellows...but who knows they may not survive.

I will have to thin them and try to move some to other pots.

I was not expecting so much germination so I sowed them too thickly.

A rather nice surprise!

These were sowed outside in a pot in January.

These were planted outside in a pot in January.

Some now are exhibiting the third leaf(first true), getting that semp fuzz, and changing shapes...

Was it seed you saved or bought?

Lynn, I am so happy you are excited as I am!

The seed was sent to me by a friend in Nottingham, England, who purchased it. The package said mixed varieties.

I surface sowed it in a Cactus mix.

When it quits snowing and raining, I'll go out and take some photos of them. It is just a few scattered here and there amongst the semps. I left the seed heads from last fall. Green Grin!

The seedlings today.
They all look alike, so may turn out to be one variety, although the seed envelope said a variety.

You are so right, Lynn! (ALWAYS!!! Smiling )

The babies are changing quite rapidly now, and some are showing signs of red color changes in the centers and differentiating themselves from each other.

Yes, Lynn, but today I went out and some were kind of 'messed up"...bet the birds are picking at them, so I put some garden ornaments on little stakes in the pot...let us hope!

What these poor little seedlings have to endure!
