awww.....He looks like such a sweetie! It is so hard when we lose them.....especially if it is sudden. I had time to prepare for Buddy but it still was hard and I still miss him so much some days. You did right by Jazz and made his short time with you very happy for him, I am sure. Group hug

Sometimes it takes forever to get to where you can get another dog or pet after losing one & sometimes it doesn't. We have to go with what our instincts tell us. No matter the time between --- it doesn't mean we loved them any less or more.

Claudia, I thought I recognized some terrier in that muzzle. Little devils. They keep you on your toes. Sense of humor too.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

Mona, that is so sweet!
It sounds like your dog had a very happy home with you. I know how hard it is to lose a pet that gave you so much happiness,.. but just remember the happiness you gave to him also while he was with you.
Maybe you could plant a Daylily in his memory.....or even several Daylilies in a little memory garden. Time does heal.
If life gives you lemons, make another glass of lemonade and plant the lemon seeds! Smiling

Thanks everyone. Today has been a little hard because I keep seeing him in so many places. I'm being flooded by memories. Good memories but I miss so much. I'm healing.

We had to put our 15 year old Dixie, rat terrior, to sleep less than 2 months ago. She also walked down our dead end street about 14 years ago and stayed. The boss, she was of all except our cat.

We still have Conrad, he's a boxer & beagle mix. We've had him 10 years. He was a rescue from a local animal shelter and really have no idea how old he is. He's starting to really get stiff. He's like the rest of us. Overweight. He visits all the neighbors on his morning constituional. This means he gets to eat anything they put in their scrap piles over night. Thus his wide girth!!!

I'm already looking out for another baby. Since we had 2 come to us, I'm waiting to see if God sends us another one by special delivery. I'm in no hurry. But, I do miss my 80# lap puppy.

All of your kind words do help so much. Thank you and many many blessings, Mona

Mona, sorry about your loss. I have been away from alltplants and I am trying to catch up. Pets are a big part of my life now that the kids are grown. The 4 legged friends are the ones I nurture on a daily basis. Funny how you can get so attached to them. Over the yrs I have lost some awesome pets, give yourself time to heal and then maybe introduce a new one to your home.

Thanks Teresa so much. It still hurts my very core of my being. He was so special. My love for him was just too strong for it to be broken in less than an hour. The worst hour of my life as it was and it will not be like that again. We have looked online at several rescue dogs.

We actually found a 3 month old puppy that was Jazz made over. The biggest brown eyes and he was laying just like Jazz did, with he body curled around and his head on his butt. I never did know how he managed to do that. It was just nearly like his picture above. We were very tempted but I'm not real sure that I need a puppy right now. We are leaning toward a grown dog. Jazz was less than 8 months when he came here. We knew this because he still had most of his baby teeth. He chewed up more of my husbands stuff, not mine, just DH!!!! He ate eye glass frames, thank God they were just reading glasses!!! I'd say probably 10 pair. 4 or 5 inhalers, several of DH notepads. Every Puffs he could get out of the garbage, or did I say garbage!!! We had to put the garbage can on top of the freezer to stop that. He also was a food theif. Nothing was off limits to him. He'd lay his head over on the side and steel a sandwich off the kitchen table and it eat it whole all in one quick bite!!! And I sware he would grin when he did this. His tail could wag at hummingbird wing speed and I was lost to those brown eyes and could only scold him for a few seconds.

So, I'm still in love with him. But, I know we don't need to wait too long. I'm so afraid that our Conrad is getting really old fast without another dog here. He's never been by himself. We had little Dixie, the one we had to send to Heaven in November, when Conrad came to live here 2001 and then Jazz was added in 2007.

I will know when or maybe David will decide. I just don't know. It's just so hard. It was 6 weeks Friday.

Thank you again and may you have many blessings sent your way, Mona
