We did not go for a walk today because I had to go for a blood test and I wasn't going to walk on an empty stomach. The blood test was just a routine screening. I will tell DH about the orthotics, but he will say that he doesn't have time to go to the doctor, and he doesn't. They are making him do his own work plus source inspector work and they have people out here who were specifically hired to be source inspectors.

That's terrible Kelli, just not right to make him work like that! Angry If you go shopping at Costco they may have the Dr Schools setup there that all he would have to do is take off his shoes and stand on it, then pick out the recommended type of insole for him.

Yes, Margaret, I did cook the pasta a minute or two less that I would normally do, and rinsed in right away in cold water to stop the cooking. It didn't seem mushy after freezing.

kqcrna said:By the way, if anybody's interested in resistant starch, that pasta that had been frozen did not spike my husband's glucose. He was a little low before dinner, had his normal insulin, and his glucose was normal (for him) at bedtime.

I also read that freezing some starchy foods like pasta, potato, and rice, to create resistant starch, cuts the carb calories from 4 calories per gram to 2 calories per gram.

Karen

I find it very interesting that the freezing cuts the sugar and calories.

Took Lily for a nice long exercise walk today of 4 miles. Only took us an hour and forty-five minutes!! Used to take 3 hours before I got in decent shape for walking.

Ran into an acquaintance out jogging with her dog. This woman has had 3 kids and is skinny as a lamp post. I guess the jogging keeps her in shape although she told me she jogs slowly. At least she is good to her dog and gives him exercise too because she takes him with her.

Lily probably would have loved to go off jogging as she always can go faster than I am going along. But at least we do get our exercise.

Wow, Rita, that's a lot of walking!

I worked out in the yard for about 3 hours today. We're not finished yet, but getting closer.

When it is a lovely day and I have ambition we often go off on our 4 mile walks. It is relaxing. Of course I am tired by the time I get home.

DH got some king of plantar fasciitis insoles. They don't do him a whole lot of good. I told him about orthotics and he said that he wasn't going to do that. He was working until midnight last night. He says he doesn't know why he does it when he doesn't get paid overtime or get pay raises.

Kelli, sorry the insoles did work too well for your DH. I guess he is letting himself be used by that company, it is time he put a stop to it unless he gets paid overtime, and he needs to ask for a decent raise.

Salaried people usually don't get overtime pay. There are exceptions, but usually only employees making an hourly wage get overtime. My husband and I were in professional salaried positions that didn't pay overtime.

Margaret, maybe your husband should think about changing jobs. And there are treatments for plantar fascitiis , including custom orthotics, physical therapy exercises and stretching.

We went to the gym this morning. First I did the 50 minute Pilates class then went downstairs to the gym and exercised for another hour or more.

My husband doesn't want to change jobs because they let him work from home, when he's not at a supplier. He doesn't think he could work in an office environment anymore. He probably has eight years until he can retire.

We went for a walk today.

The results from my blood test came back and my numbers are normal.

Karen, I think yo meant Kelli. Smiling My DH is retired, he was salaried and he got paid overtime and double overtime, mind you he was doing a dangerous job.

Well today I did lots of garden work of pulling out tomato plants. Then I took Lily for the one mile loop exercise walk. That is it, I will soon be heating up dinner as potatoes are cooking.

We went for a walk today. We only went around the park two times because DH's foot was bothering him. He limps but has no plans to go to the doctor. You know how men can be.

Ugh. I didn't get much sleep last night. In fact, I only slept from about 10:30 pm to 2:00 am. I'm too exhausted to do anything today.
