Marilyn can you tell us where this is? Looks like a DL garden. Is it local to you?

Hi Leon,

This is at the Valley of the Daylilies in Lebanon, OH. Home of Dan and Jackie Bachman. He is a hybridizer and specializes "spidery" and of unusual form daylilies. They are approx. a one hour, one way trip for me. I took this photo in early July 2005 or 2008 (I took photos there both years). The daylilies shown were some of his seedlings, or mostly seedlings at the time.

I think Dan said to me that they have 12 acres. I posted some other photos (in the Landscape Photos section) that show their home, pond and daylilies. The alpaca (or llama) fenced in area is in front of their property and belongs to someone else. Visitors see it along side the gravel road as they drive up to the Valley of the Daylilies place.

I met Dan and Jackie in summer 1999 and have gone to their place off and on since then, but not for a lot of years. I have MS and it's too hot for me to visit when they have their Daylily Open House in early July every year.

Here's their website: http://www.thevalleyofthedayli...

Here's the Green Pages on them. Valley of the Daylilies I took some other photos that are shown there below my review.

I grow some of his introductions, since he started introducing them in 2001.

Thanks Marilyn,
I think I've been in or near Lebanon at some point. But I had not seen this place. It always interests me when I see large gardens, especially daylilies and irises in bloom. As I get older we do not travel so much out of state anymore (sad). But we used to drive all over KY & OH as well as MI during our younger years. It was so much fun to see interesting places. We especially like KY because of its natural beauty, and also that is where Sharon (now deceased) was from. So I hope you do not mind me asking questions now and then because I do enjoy landscape photos. Also thanks for the links!

Leon,

You're welcomed! Ask away anytime! Thanks for all the thumbsup too!

I'm going to try and remember what the different Irises and tag them when I get more time. Same thing with the one with the different containers on our patio.

Merry Christmas!
