I know, Annette. We just can't get everything done. Good luck for tonight. I have left everything on. I leave for work before the sun comes up.

2 more nights in the 20's and then a warming trend. I am ready for spring.

Once warm weather comes around, these peonies will just explode in growth. My peonies are all currently suspended in growth as the temps have been quite cold since the beginning of March. Though there are buds on my TPs, none of the stems have grown more than 3" yet.

LG and Gary, sorry to hear about the not so nice weather further north. We're going down to 29 tonight, but we'll warm up for the next few days.

More flashlight time tonight, recovering a few plants that the wind had blown the covers off of, I left them on today.

My Sea Shell wasn't covered yesterday, and it looks fine tonight. We'll see how it does over the next few days.

I took a half day of vacation yesterday to go home and uncover my Peonies as the temperatures were supposed to get to 70°F in the afternoon!

Everything looked pretty good. Here are some photos I took.
Rose Reverence with buds. It perked up after I watered it!

I guess I don't have to tell you how optimistic I am about this year's Peonies!

Glad to know they are all looking good LG. WIsh for everyone's peonies come through without much damage. I saw on Southernpeonyblog that her peonies which were very far along were also affected and covered with snow.

LG, I'm glad your plants did well!

I uncovered mine as well, and no damage here. One of my largest plants that is full of buds wasn't covered, and so far it looks fine. I can even see the color of the blooms, as the buds are stating to split open. I'll have to take some pics to share later.

Thanks Karen and Annette.

We are on the roller coaster now with temperatures swinging high and low over the course of a week.

No color on my buds yet, Annette. I can't wait to see yours!!

Such a tough time of year. We're anxious to see blooms but don't want the plants to be overly anxious and endanger themselves!

So true Neal!

Here is my plant that usually blooms first. It was not covered during our cold spell this week.

No color on this noid potted peony, I'm thrilled it survived the winter, and it has 2 buds.

Warmer weather next weeks may prompt more herbaceous peonies pips to pop. Some early wakers from my garden:

Very nice, Annette! That Tree Peony in the pot looks vigorous!

I know you're excited to see those pips, Karen. Get ready to cover up Vanilla Schnapps as it appears to send up its buds first!

It's so strange looking to me when they push the bud up first like that! I had a new one do that last year, can't recall which one it was now, but I found it worrisome thinking it would get damaged.

Annette, that herbaceous with all the buds has such beautiful foliage! Do you know the id?

Karen, glad to see your plants are waking up, the little tufts of green on that fernie are adorable Lovey dubby !

Thanks LG, the TP is the purple noid, I'm looking forward to seeing it bloom!

Neal, I agree, the emerging peonies can look very strange! My Command Performance always comes up buds first, and last year they got damaged and didn't bloom.

I don't know the name of the herbaceous plant, I've had it for over 10 years. The closest bloom that I've seen it resemble is peony Clown.

It's a beauty Annette! Command Performance was the one that had the bud emerge first here! As soon as I read that I remembered! I can't recall if the bud was damaged or not- I would think I would have remembered the bloom... Confused

My Command Performance did the same thing again this year, but the buds seem fine for now. Hopefully, we'll see blooms this spring!

Here is 'Ballerina de Saval' Itoh with 3 buds showing already. I think several of us got her from Adelman's when they had their sale in the Fall.

Annette, so beautiful! I hope the buds make it and bloom soon for this early peony bush.

Wow, that is so awesome, LG! The buds of your VS are so big eventhough the leaves haven't unfurled yet. I would love to see pics on your VS and BdS. I also got BdS last year.

Karen, Coral Sunset is so close to the tree trunk. Did you have any problems with the peony development so far?
