Does anyone know how to get a ticket in order to call dibs on a plant? I thought trading was open and I went to call dibs on my first plant this morning and it said I could not because I had no tickets. Please help.

In order to get tickets, you need to offer something, anything, through the swap tool. Once you have something in the swap tool, the system will start sending you tickets with the next round (8:00pm nightly).

I realize some people just don't have anything to share... yet. It those cases, you can make something up!

For example, Jeff might add "Enjoyable afternoon with toddler" and make 1 available. This will cause the system to start giving Jeff tickets.

Other ideas... Afternoon with Me, Newbie looking for conversation, etc. You get the idea. You can even pick up a packet of seed at the dollar store and list it.

I am going to approach the system admin about a new option for the 'swap host' that would allow participants to get tickets even with nothing listed. There may be some hesitance to do this by default as some swaps really do want their participants to list something real.

Rick, I think our swaps would be the only ones to use that option. :-)

I forgot today was opening day. *Blush* I'd better check my offerings and see what else I have to add. I will definitely be adding as we go along, and I'm sure others will also, so do not worry that all the "good stuff" has already been taken

Yeah, thanks, Rick as I'm pretty clueless Big Grin
Just between us, don't bother Admin, just let people make things up. You know, beg forgiveness, don't ask permission!
I am super excited things are 'selling' off my list already!
Plant it and they will come.

@SallyG

If you have any more of the Ferny Corydalis or Greek Oregano, keep me in mind. I wasn't able to dib on it and now it's showing 0 available. Sighing!

I'm keeping an eye out for more Greek Oregano to be added to Sally's list too! Smiling I like that entries show how many people have an item on their wish list.. helps me know when I should try to dig up a few more, if I have plenty of something in my garden.

Speaking of which, I'll be adding some of that ferny corydalis -- that's the one with the yellow blooms, right? I just potted up an extra, and there are a few more in odd places.

One of the ferny corydalis that I got last year is outback and blooming its' head off.

I picked up a large Hosta Krossa Regal ad HD yesterday for $18. I just finished splitting it in to 8! Assuming they all take, I'll be putting a couple up.

I potted up a few things over the last few days and will update the swap tool sometime today. I have quite a few sensitive ferns, a few toad lilies 'Blue Wonder', some cimicifuga racemosa, Jacob's ladder polemonium reptans, thalictrum. I also have tall garden phlox that I'm removing because they are deer candy here. The tall phlox will be 'Katherine', 'Robert Poore', the passalong 'Filicia' named after Jill's MIL, and maybe 'David's Lavender' depending on what has self seeded where. So the phlox will be a roll of the dice and you won't know which cultivar until it blooms. I also have clumps of a pretty noid purple bearded iris that Mike dug up en masse from a job site he was on. I'll see what else as the weeks go on leading up to the swap.

Hey, Sally... which Corydalis do we have? (I think ours are both the same... mine came from LeviLyla (DOG), and I think it hitchhiked to your garden.) I found this discussion The thread "Not Corydalis cheilanthifolia" in Photo of Ferny Corydalis (Corydalis cheilanthifolia) and I think mine has the more rounded leaf tips.

Thanks for reminding me, I'm pretty sure we did ID mine as lutea. I'll add a couple to my swap list. Do you notice cheilanthifolia being different in your garden? like does it tolerate more sun, need less water, etc.

Corydalis is one of the genera that have lipid and protein rich structures called elaiosomes attached to their seeds. Ants carry off the seeds, eat the elaiosomes, and leave the viable seed behind; an ingenious strategy for seed dispersal.
