Hi and welcome, S P!
Rick will set up the swap tool, but we also have the chat thread
The thread "2018 Spring Plant Swap - CHAT" in Mid Atlantic Gardening forum
There are those of us who want to POST HAVES on the chat thread, and then I think anybody who WANTS an items should directly message (on this same site- called treemail?) the person who haves.
Plant it and they will come.

Welcome @mommymail! Smiling The swap is lots of fun and you don't need to bring anything to participate. Many folks will have plenty of plants to share. Green Grin!

Thanks for the links, RIck
Rick is managing threads for me. (Thanks again, heaps!)

I just clicked on a bunch of things I will be offering, without adding quantities or updating any details. I see a couple others have activated things to browse, too. Thumbs up
Plant it and they will come.

I'll try to put some possibilities up to browse as well, but might be changing quantities before the swapping (via the swap tool) starts. Browsing ahead of time lets you put items on your wish list (with whatever number of stars according to how intensely you're wishing), so you can jump right on them when trading begins.

The best way to learn about the swap tool is to watch Dave's video about it. The link is at the top of the main swap tool page (go to the top of any page, click "tools and apps" and then click "seed swaps" from the pull down menu. The tool was created for seed swaps, but it's pretty easy to adapt for a plant swap. In the "number of seeds per packet" field, you can put the size of the plant you're offering (seedling, division in 4" pot, 2 year old plant in gallon pot, etc.).
We're all learners, doers, teachers.

And always, DON'T Sweat the details! it's about fun and sharing plants, it's not a bunch of hard core trading.

The thing I like about the swap tool is, once I have entered my 'plant xxx' that I always have some to share, I can keep re activating it on future swaps- one click and done.
Plant it and they will come.

Well put, Sally. Our get togethers are more like plant sharing parties. The swap tool lets us get some trading done ahead of time, leaving more time for socializing at the swap.

Everybody gets a labeled "drop spot" for their plants, and whatever they have put dibs on via the swap tool -- or via tree-mailed requests to those not using the tool -- is dropped in their spot as people arrive at the swap. There will still be plenty of trading & sharing & "pimping plants" on the day of the swap, too. Somehow it all works out and happy people go home with new-to-them plants.
We're all learners, doers, teachers.

Welcome Anthony!

We get together 3 times a year: Jan/Feb for a seed swap, May and Sep/Oct for a plant swap.

We use the 'swap tool' here on the NGA site to list plants that we have to share. Participants call 'dibs' on posted items. We meet on the announced date and location to swap plants and have a pot luck lunch.

We you say you are new here, do you mean to the National Gardening Association, or the Mid-Atlantic group? Knowing which will help us explain in better detail.

Our next swap is on Saturday, May 19.

To get an idea of what people are offering, check out https://garden.org/apps/swap/swaplist/22/

It is all a cover for a social event: bring extra plants if you have any, visit, eat lots of tasty potluck food, visit, leave with lots of plants even if you didn't bring any.
