May Apples have an interesting scarification process too. They are less common than they once were in some areas because of falling populations of box turtles. The fruit is at just the right height for the turtles to reach. The seed in the fruit has a much better chance of germinating if it first passes through the digestive tract of the box turtle.

I've tried to get them going here and can't... do you think it's my probable lack of box turtles? Are they short-lived? No need to dig them for me; I can probably raid Greenthumb's patch if I try again. Whistling

Does anybody want to try one or two of these hanging plant pulleys from Collections Etc? I use them in a couple of places since our ceiling is high downstairs. They work pretty well, same principle as window shades that you can tug to start them moving up or down. I put 12" pots of well-watered boston fern on them this winter, so they will take a lot of weight. Currently on sale for $7.99, so figure $4 each, no shipping since I'm putting in an order big enough to ship free.

Here's the link: https://www.collectionsetc.com...

I'll order 1 extra set but can put more in my cart if I know they're wanted. Short time offer, though, as I'll put the order in within the hour!

I put in my Collections Etc order this morning, but I plan to put in a second order after 11 pm or so... If you'd like a set of plant pulleys or a set of plant hanger/hooks, there's still time! (see my post above for link)

That would work just fine. The problem is always how much space for each person as you're never really sure how many items a person will be getting or what size pots/bags, etc they'll be in. (plants, not the people!)

Need a couple ID's please. First is what I was thinking (& offering) as Tall American Bellflower but I'm not totally sure, the marker is faded and can't be read.
Second is the other plant in that bed, once again, can't read the marker.
Third--weed or desirable plant?

The first photo is not Tall American Bellflower, an alternate leaf biennial that does not form a clump. Can't say what it is, but are the stems square?

Second photo is perhaps an Echinacea or a Rudbeckia judging by the leaf shape and the "winged" leaf petiole (stem). A photo from the side might help.

Thanks David, I was hoping you would have an answer for me. I guess I need to change that listing in the swap and send a message to those who dibbed on them

Robin you could always list them as 'surprise' plants. Smiling

Robin, I downloaded photo #1 and enlarged it. It has square stems, thus is probably something in the mint family (family, not mint genus Mentha). This includes many plants such as Agastache, Monarda, Nepeta, and Salvia. For a list of genera in the mint family see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

I think it is Agastache foeniculum.
