Meant to state above .......

I've been buying, with the exception of the shell peanuts, all my bird seed/suet at a local Tractor Supple store, since they have the cheapest prices around here and I buy the cheapest suet they offer, but at 99 cents for each one, it really adds up. I've noticed over the past year or so, the seed prices keep going higher and higher. Sad

Margaret, where in the house do you put the suet until morning?

We don't have bears and the raccoons and possums are the critters that steal it. Sad

Marilyn, I have a plastic container with a lid that I just drop the cages and suet in, we keep them in the shed.

So far I have never seen a raccoon or a possum here which is just fine with me. Green Grin!

Thanks Margaret! I tip my hat to you.

We don't have a shed, but maybe I'll think about getting a sealed container to put the suet feeder into the garage.

Your welcome Marilyn. I tip my hat to you. It's a pain in the butt taking them in and putting them back out but the birds will benefit and you will save a few bucks. Thumbs up

I saw those 99-cent suet cakes at Tractor Supply the other day. But I also saw a bag of peanuts in the bird feeding area that was the highest I've seen anywhere! You just never know with them! Guess I'll have to wait until I go into San Antonio to get peanuts, but I did buy some of the suet. I go to a feed store in S.A. that is pretty inexpensive on their large birdseed bags and some bulk items also. I just stock up when I go.

Linda,

I get my 20 pound bag of shelled peanuts at Wild Birds Unlimited and in October, they're on sale. With my new Squirrel Buster peanut, I only have birds on it and I don't go through the bags of peanuts that I did before! Perfect peanut feeder! Thumbs up Hurray! http://www.duncraft.com/squirr...

Hope the people who make the Squirrel Buster products come up with a Squirrel Buster suet feeder! Whistling

It's the best I've use! Hurray! Thumbs up I don't have raccoons, or squirrels or possums using it and depleting the nuts! Hurray!

If and when you get it, make sure you hold the bottom of it as well as the top when you carry it.

Worth every cent I paid for it! Thumbs up

I got it the first week it was offered in the USA (made in Canada). I had emailed Brome, who makes the Squirrel Buster feeders, (they showed it as >coming soon< on their website and they responded back that in November 2011. Can't remember which week of Nov., but within the first week that Duncraft offered it, I ordered it.

This is their website http://bromebirdcare.com/

This is the other Brome Squirrel Buster feeder I own and it's great also! I fill with black oil sunflower seeds (sometimes add some safflower seed to it).

Margaret,

The makers of the Squirrel Buster peanut feeder, Brome, are the ones that state to hold the bottom, as well as, the top when you are carrying and/or moving the feeder.

Marilyn it really is very good at keeping the squirrels and large birds out, this little one was tiny and obviously very hungry, it didn't take too long and he couldn't get in there anymore because he got too fat. Hilarious! I've had it several years and I think that is only the second one I have seen in there. Big Grin

Margaret,

He/she is a small one and looks to be young and small. I'm amazed that he/she was able to get in through one of the open squares that look to be too small (for him/her) to get in. Blinking

Marilyn, I'm pretty sure it was a youngster and that's why he/she could squeeze through the squares. It made a pretty cute photo. Hilarious!
