Gosh, I could never do that. I love my daylilies but I love the spring bulbs also as I need to have some flowers come spring after the long winters. I have bulbs planted all around my daylilies so they work well planted in the same beds anyway.

I have one little crocus in a hurry for spring showing it's little face. Smiling Weather is supposed to be mild here later in the week. So, I plan on moving mulch for the walkways and some more pruning. I want to get a head start on the yard chores this year.
It's my cats world, I'm just here to open the cans.

My first pruning job once it warms up will be 3 large crab apple trees, it a real time consuming job and I have to climb up in the trees. Blinking

You are braver than I am. I sure wouldn't try to climb any trees at my age. Whenever I need something like that done I have the guys that cut my lawn and do my wall building take care of it. That way I just have to stand and point to what I want trimmed.

Lucky for me Rita the trees are not that tall because I keep them trimmed pretty good. Hilarious!

The really big trees around here are not on my property but at the neightbors. So they are not my responsibility. My biggest tree is a blue spruce in the front yard that is taller than my two story house. I used to have two of them but afew years ago one came down in a spring storm. Mostly the rest are dwarf trees except for the old cherry that I have trimmed up every few years. Even the dogwood is really not too big. My neighbors dogwood is much larger.

Rita I remember when that tree came down and the mess it made in your yard.

It really was bad. Took out the power lines in front of the house and my entire block did not have electricy for days. But I like it much better now without that tree as the yard there is nice and sunny. I have all sorts of things growing there like daylilies, bulbs, siberian and bearded iris and more. Looks so much better to me too than the old way. The few things that did need shade. like some ferns and my hydreangeas, I eventually moved over to the shadier side were the other blue spruce is growing. But it was a reall mess that first spring getting the roots out and filling up the giant hole. After that I just planted more things.

I remember the tree coming down too. We have a big Poplar out front that is getting old. We have had it trimmed but it is showing more age every year and we worry about it doing damage to the house one of these times. It was planted in the 40's and when the H. was young he hung a horseshoe on a branch. In 85 when we moved in you could only see one edge but now it is buried in time.

The weather man tonight said we are getting a real winter storm this weekend,. We will see since we have not had one yet this year.

Weatherman said rain here today but as of right now, it is snowing like the dickens. Huge flakes coming down. If this keeps up we will have an inch within an hour. Sure doesn't look like spring today.

The snow quit after about an hour and now it has totally melted. Boy, I thought we were in for a winter storm the way it was snowing earlier.

Same here, Cindy. This morning about 8, it was snowing to beat the band - huge, huge flakes. Had nearly an inch in no time. Then, it warmed up and all gone now, but sure is windy.

It snowed like crazy here too this morning. Of course, while I was driving to work and it took me almost twice as long to get there.

But later on, the sun came out and temps got into the high 30's.

No signs of anything green coming up here yet. Just as well - most years, if I blink, I miss it. On the other hand, the geese are back, so I expect cranes, red wing blackbirds and a variety of other birds to follow soon. ~Jan

Weeellll, We had beautiful clear sunshine with temps in the 60s. It was a little windy but hea, who can complain after reading all of your terrible weather!!! I just know that we are going tohave some more bad weather but yesterday and today was wonderful!!!! We usually don't have Spring in February in NE MS. This usually waits until the first of March when we will have 3 weeks of wonderful weather and then WHAM!!!!! It'll get down in the 20s for several days and promptly kill back everything that has grown for 3 weeks.

I think this whole winter is whacky to say the least.

Here's to an early Spring for real, for everyone. Blessings, Mona

Weatherman says we have a storm coming. As soon as I heard storm, I was picturing snow, ice and cold cold tempts. But it's suppose to be windy with buckets of rain. I can handle that! Just no more winter stuff, Please!
