I guess Daffodills are so enchanting is because there hasnt been a bloom in Z6 since October the year before.
I planted many just to get a lift from winter depression. Now to wait another 4 weeks to see what comes up.

Thanks, Allison.

Plus, Jo and I heard that the daffodils deter voles from the lily bulbs, so that would be another great plus for daffodils. I planted quite a few in with my lilies this year. Hope it works.

Ginger, I have some miniature daffs called "Baby Moon," which I never get to see any more as they bloom in AR while I am in FL. They bloom along with the wild violets.

Every fall I plant hundreds of spring flowering bulbs.
Daffodils are mainly the "Dutch master" or "King Alfred" type.
The fancy varieties tend to be short lived here.
Crocus, tulips, muscari and dwarf iris also.
Hyacinths some years, but they do not always bloom for me.

I tend to like the light colors, creams with soft peach trumpets or whites with a bright edged trumpet.
I have some large cup Coolflame that were planted at the same time as Bellsong.

I have a few bulbs, but mostly don't bother with them. Tend to forget where they are and dig 'em up when putting in new plants.

Those of us who converse with Rita and heard the story are eagerly awaiting her photos from this Spring--she planted 4,999 bulbs last Fall and, added to what she had already, it should be a spectacular show. Hurray!
It’s okay to not know all the answers.
