I had two frogs in my pond most of the summer. Today I decided it was cold enough that the water hyacinths were never going to keep growing and I did not want them to rot in the pond. So I was out there with a net scooping them up and dumping them next to the pond to rot over the winter. Scooped out a frog! Poor thing. Couldn't even move really as I am sure it was getting really to sleep for the winter. So I put him back in the pond.

My avatar is a Red-and-yellow Mountain-frog Kyarranus kundagungan. They live in montane rainforest. They have direct-development - they lay very large yolked eggs and the tadpole develops through to young frogs by just feeding off the yolk. The eggs are laid in burrows in foam nests through which water seeps in montane rainforest. The photo does not due them justice - they are a bright red and brilliant yellow ventrally. They do not live in my garden unfortunately.

The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.

This evening i was tailing an armadillo but i captured this instead, lol! He was very luck i did not accidently step on him, I was afraid I had as still and low to the ground as he was. I haven't seen a big leopard frog in a long time, it was odd seeing one during this drought period. I picked him up without a struggle; Leopard frogs are pretty mellow and will let you hold them without them fighting you. I will never forget the time one jumped up into the air and fell down my boot. It was an icky but memorable experience... Hilarious!

It is not a toad. It is a Leopard frog.
So with a little luck, Anne might get a Prince!!!

Toads just give you warts, or so I have been told.
