Betty that's good to know! I'll check it out. Hurray! Hurray!

I'm really not an overalls person either, especially bc of the labor that's necessary to take a tinkle Hilarious! but they cover my behind, and I'm sure (being in the city) the neighbors will appreciate less of a show this year, after 6 years of the alternative (even though I would mind the shirt tail on a regular basis) Hilarious! Plus they'll preserve what little dignity I have left! Rolling my eyes. Rolling my eyes. Hilarious! Hilarious!

Hmm...I'd never considered overalls, either. Currently, I wear jeans and t-shirt to work in yard. Because we've done a lot of retaining wall work in addition to plants, I go through seats of jeans at an alarming rate! Luckily, when I'm in the back, no one can see me. I'm usually a mess anyway - sweaty and very dirty...sweat wiped from brow with dirty gloves. Isn't my prettiest moment. So, hopefully my overall disheveled look detracts from missing bottoms when I happen to pass through the front Crossing Fingers! For now, I've been buying second-hand because, really, I can't believe how fast I'm going through them! Also, I'm tall (5'9"), and luckily long jeans are relatively easy to find. However, once we're done with the retaining walls, so I'm not sitting on concrete block so much, I may consider the overalls. Very interested in all the pockets and durability. Not so sure I like the undressing to pee aspect. But, here's my additional concern (besides maybe tall size issues): Sounds like they all have wide legs? Do you all have tick problems in your areas? We have a lot around here, and in addition to repellant, I like tighter legs. I originally only used tighter legs, and didn't use repellant, but we get ticks all the time. Now that I'm using repellant, maybe I don't need tighter legs??

Anyway, for now, I can't beat jeans for under $5 second-hand given how hard I am on them. It cracks me up being retired and redefining what "work clothes" mean. Now, I say, "Oh, I need some more work clothes. Gotta go to Goodwill!" Rolling on the floor laughing

@Lioba excellent tips! Thank You!

Perhaps both of you might share links to those ebay sellers, since there are so many. Smiling

Sorry it too so much time to get back to you.

On ebay I do a search "Berne insulated overalls womens L". You would do it in your size and length. They have 3 lengths: short, regular and long. The results get emailed to you and/or you can check back. The warmer months are best to check.

I checked online retailers and Berne has become more popular due to undercutting Carhart's prices. So even on sale, women's insulated bibs that might be in discontinued colors will be over $55. You can try your local Tractor Supply store to see if they have better discounts. That is where I got my first pair. I absolutely love them.

I also where UGG boots. You can get them discounted at Amazon, again when the weather gets warmer. Beware the soles wear fast so find ones with lug soles and have them replaced with Vibrams. I have been doing that myself. And waterproof them even if they say they are waterproof. They are real sheep skin lined and will keep your feet comfy even in the warmer weather. If you have sensitive and achy feet like mine its worth this trouble. Scuffing just makes the boots look better.

If I think of anything else I'll let you know. I have trouble with gloves so I have to read through this.

critterologist said:@Lioba, do you mean you put on one pair of gloves inside out, with the nitrile coating against your skin? I love those Atlas gloves, but they really do let dirt in... after a while, my fingernails look nearly as if I'd been digging without any gloves at all. (I wear gloves because I have to protect my skin from breaks, not so much to keep my fingernails pretty LOL, but clean fingernails would be a plus!)

Yes that is what I mean but yes my nails still get dirty. I wish I could find a better glove but they still protect my hands from thorns and I can pick up stuff better.

Strangely enough, I wash my chapped hands with LAVA soap. It is an exfoliant. It prevents dead skin build up that traps bad stuff and creates cracking. You can find it at Walmart in the automotive grease removal section. I also cut my nails short. Mine break so easily anyway.

A few weeks ago, I tripped and broke my very favorite, old gardening flip flops Glare
Thumb of 2020-09-16/bloominholes2fill/4d71b9
They're molded rubber, and they were work horses for me in wet conditions. They also are so very nice for indoors and running errands in the warm months. Just very nice all around every day flip flops that lasted 9 years. Smiling Boy, we don't realize how much we rely on every day things until they're gone! Glare D'Oh! So I found a pair on Amazon with thicker soles (bc I need the support, after 9 years Hilarious! Hilarious! )
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SPZ7T3X/

They arrived today, and I like them so far. The only thing I have to see about is the arch in the foot bed. I don't need arch supports, BUT these really aren't too high, so I'll wear them around the house for a spell and if they prove comfortable, I'll be sooo happy!! Crossing Fingers! Crossing Fingers! I might even order a couple more in different colors! Whistling Whistling Green Grin!

They run a half size big. They only make them in whole sizes, and they recommend that people who wear half size shoes to order up to the next whole size, so I did, and they felt a bit loose (and I have thick feet Hilarious! Hilarious! ) and they were way too long. So, I ordered a pair in the half size down, and they fit perfectly!! So if you wear a half size shoe, I suggest to order one in the whole size above AND one in the whole size below to get the right fit. Smiling

Thank you for your input on those flip flops! I'm a dedicated Crocs wearer... but in addition to the higher price tag, most Crocs wear out remarkably quickly, losing their tread and becoming treacherous in slick conditions. (You can look for the "duo" sole Crocs, with a different material on the bottom than on the inside, which wear far longer.)

Adding... I saw the above flip flops had recently been on a "lightning deal" on Amazon. Often (but not always) these deals are repeated, so I'm going to see if I can catch one, or just catch a sale price. I put a pair in my cart and then clicked to "save for later" -- that way, I'll get an alert if the price drops. Smiling

I can't abide plastic or rubber on my feet - makes them sweat. So, no crocs for me and I try to find flips made from leather or cloth with a not-rubber sole. I was astounded at my granddaughter's 'deal' on $40 flips that looked identical to the old plastic 'zorries' I wore as a child. I assume they had some cool brand name on them, but really...

I prefer the rubber bc they're flexible and completely water proof. In other words, water doesn't ruin them and make them squishy, like it does to suede and leather. But that's only for flip flops. I don't like the croc type clogs for the very same reason that you don't Deb, even though I bought seconds at a discount store here, I rarely wear them. I won't wear flip flops for heavy duty work. One concussion, and work boots with good treads have been a must ever since! D'Oh! Hilarious! Hilarious!

I prefer leather sandals with a suede foot bed for casual occasions where they won't get wet to the point of ruin. It's a texture and price thing for me personally Smiling

It's amazing how we are all so different for so many different reasons. That's what I love!!

I'm a flip-flop fan for summer gardening, too for the same reasons Dana mentioned, plus I find it easier to wash my feet than clean shoes! Big Grin Deb, I worked at a place that sold $70 rubber flips, totally flat, no arch support, just a designer brand. I bought virtually the same product (without the logo) for $3 at Old Navy. Held up for two summers. Thumbs up I am otherwise a Birkenstock fan. I got their rubber ones thinking I could combine the best of both worlds, but unlike the flips they have cupped foot beds that hold water and dirt, so that didn't work either. Sad

For a different body part, can anyone recommend a source for a plain old ribbed 100% cotton tank top? You'd think that would be easy, but no, either the fabric is cheaply thin or they contain Spandex. I checked Duluth on above recommendations and they don't seem to have them. Seems in times past I could find them almost anywhere. Out of style?
