I got a fantastic order from Northern Lights Daylilies today which included Masked Marauder, Willa Mae Thorton, Keep the Faith, and Golden Breasted Starling. They sent Art of Fact and Bring It On as bonus plants. I ordered single fans , but most were triple or double fans. Willa Mae Thorton was the only single fan.

My order from Davis Boxwood and Daylilies came Wednesday. I ordered Boagie, Brave World, Hawaiian Swirls, Jim's Pick, Spiny Sea Urchin, and received Girl's Night Out and Bottom Dollar Baby and Egyptian Ibis* as bonus and gift plants.

The fans are wonderful, sturdy with good root systems, surviving well in their shallow water bath til I can get them planted.

Our daylily99 sent my order out and today I was thrilled to see Pete's Dragon included as a gift!

I also received a seedling cross of Whale Tails x Bow Tie Affair. I can only imagine what the patterning will look like...
My order consisted of Laughing Giraffe, Axl Rose, and Black Falcon Ritual. So, now I can do the proper DOTD

I got my James Hall daylilies before I left town and potted them up. Had a nice bonus fan of Yellow Angel Wings that will go in the Prayer Garden my order was

I took my son to a Nebraska Daylily Society meeting on Saturday. We were both gifted a plant from a member. . . We received Ninja Storm and Don Lovell. . .

Annnnnd then we had our auction... I behaved, mostly. I won
Spacecoast Fringe Benefit and Concorde Nelson. I also bought little pollen storage tubes (and saw a nifty way to transfer pollen). I could have won more, but my son was bidding for daylilies on my cash since he hadn't brought any... It kept my count down...

As the meeting was wrapping up, the same member gifted us two more plants- another df of Don Lovell and Nancy Queen of the Rose.

Then, Ian gifted me a fan of Red Dynamite. So that puts my total at still less than Ginny's

I did most of my damage with seeds and seedlings. Planted out somewhere around 150 yesterday with probably 75 to go...

I figured I had to quit before they start shipping and also remembered I have to plant them

It is easy to forget all of the work involved in planting them when lured by a pretty face I am certainly guilty of that

My first daylily for this season has arrived the person sending it had dug it for another order and will ship the remainder to me later. The one that came today is Birthday Wishes by Selman Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Birthday Wishes')

Got this one from Durango on the LA, he only sells for a few weeks. Nice healthy plant as always, have purchased from him several times.

I have had three orders come in this week. Twixanddud from this forum sends great looking plants (REINDEER ANTLERS and AARON BROWN). I also received an order from THOROUGHBRED DAYLILIES (John and Annette Rice): IN HIGH REGARD and a bonus of PAMELA JANE HOWELL). Yesterday I received an order from SINGING OAKS GARDEN and all were Bud Bennett intros (FINDER'S DELIGHT, IRON WARRIOR, FAST PLEASURE, SONNY JAY and BAY SKIPPER). I just love opening the boxes and the smell of new plants. Now the fun begins, finding spots to put the newly acquired plants.

Those are some great looking plants. But will someone explain to me why the base of those plants is white so high up? I have always thought that white demarcation marked where the soil came up to on the plants, surely the soil was not that high up. I have been advised to never plant much deeper than a couple of inches over the crown. I do see a few there that look like what I would call 'normal' but some of the others look like several inches are white. So I have to think that I am missing something.

Boy, I didn't notice until you pointed it out, Larry! I really don't know, but now I wonder if I should plant them that deep now?
