Scott I am sending her some acorns for doing such a good job with her plants. nodding You should check out the April Raffle that is not a Raffle here at NGA. Here is the link. https://garden.org/ideas/view/... It's lots of fun just participating in it and meeting lots of great people. Smiling

Frenchy 21-

Thank you. She will be elated!

(I had to look up both the acorns, and the 'not a raffle, raffle' to see what they were)

I will let her enter tonight.

I have to say, the community support on this site has been incredible. I wasn't really sure what to expect since we were starting with upside-down planters, but....everyone has been very helpful.

Thanks again!

I agree Maybe she could have a NGA nickname so we could 'chat' to her directly. Smiling

Frenchy21 -

I will ask her tomorrow (she's asleep) what name she would like to use, and introduce her.

Thanks again for the acorns...we each bought a not-a-raffle ticket with them.

Have a pleasant evening.

So...... I got a little obsessed reading some stuff about Craig Lehoullier, and his book 'Epic Tomatoes', which led me to order 6 more types of seeds.

I have very little room in the yard, my daughter already wants to dig it all up and grow enough to supply our neighborhood, and...

I have several seedlings sprouted that I now need to find a home for in the yard.

This may have gone a little further than our original intentions.

Oops!!! I messed up and posted that to the wrong "newbie" thread.<grin> Sorry for the intrusion, but glad you enjoyed the Flickr photos. Be *very very* careful with these tomatoes and peppers....really careful!!!!! Very addictive...and you have a built-in SHG enabler!!!! nodding The only bit of advice I have for you is no matter what you do or how you do it...have fun!!!! (I think you're already succeeding on that last bit! Thumbs up ) Keep it up!

My daughter wants to use the screen name Baby Bunny. (well, you know...she's 6)

Anyway, she said to tell you thank you for the acorns.

She said to tell you the girl in your avatar is cute!

Cheers!

Congrats on your growing garden! I'm glad you and Baby Bunny are enjoying the process! I have a friend that uses upside-down planters every year to grow tomatoes and/or peppers. She also puts plants in hay bales and the ground. She gets good yields of both with the planter but I think she only plants cherry tomatoes in it.

The only advice I'd give you is that in the heat of the summer she has to water the planters at least twice a day. Stuff that's in the ground/hay bales isn't as needy water-wise. Oh, and deer love to nibble the tomatoes in those planters since they are at just the right height!

Bcnbx-

It's been pretty warm here, so we have been watering twice per day as of late.

The plants are in my gated yard, so, not much chance of deer getting them.

Thanks for the comments.

Saltflower- when I showed her your post, of course her response was to ask if we could drive to California and see your rabbits.

(In spite of the fact that we have wild bunnies all over the place where I live)

Anyway.....

1. We have tomatoes (beefsteak) growing!

2. Cherry tomatoes already have several small ones starting!

And....

3. Our first jalapeƱo started! :)

Finally, the Anaheim peppers are growing at a crazy rate...so, at what point do I harvest? Is there a size, or color that says when to pick?

Here's a pic of one:
