Love those color echos with the apricot cupped daff with Salmon Dream and the bit of yellow in the double daff with the tree peony! Interesting how in your region peonies start blooming while daffodils are in bloom. My daffs are mostly finished by the time peonies start opening, except for a couple of little tenuifolia hybrids, which this year are delayed because of lingering cold spells.

I hope all your Peonies show up this year, Anya! It is so disappointing when they don't!!!

CdL has 4 more buds, so I hope to share more photos!!

It is 80° F (26.67°C) here right now! Tomorrow we are supposed to get storms with a lot of rain. I think the combination will push more peony buds to open. At least if we don't get hail or any other weather calamities Sad

These 2 tps are from Tree Peony Garden, planted in the fall of 2013.

Also, Early Scout opened it's first bloom

This plant has a multitude of buds all around the plant.

We too are supposed to get severe storms on Sunday with high winds and hail. Mother Nature is showing her anger again.

Gary, your tree peonies are absolutely gorgeous!! The blooms are huge!! I sure hope that the storm isn't as bad as they are predicting.

Karen, I got the CdL as a potted plant in 2016. I will take a pic of the entire bush tomorrow in between rain showers if possible.

Growing tree peonies has been an interesting process. Almost all of the tree peonies that I have purchased came with buds, bloomed, and then all above ground growth has for various reasons died. The next spring new shoots pop up and most of the growth has occurred from the new growth at ground level. The weather patterns here in the south don't seem to be ideal for bloom, but are ideal for growing. The freeze and spring thunder storm patterns damage the blooms. Itohs on the other hand, seem to be ideal for the south if for no other reason they bloom about one month later and weather wise it makes all the difference in the world. Just some thoughts about growing.

You are at least 3-4 weeks ahead of me. I love growing tree peonies, they're my all time favorite. Thank you for sharing your experience on the southern tree peony. I don't think I will move down south anytime soon......

LG and Gary, I'm so happy to see your beautiful blooms!

Gary, my woody stems on my tree peonies remain. I've not had any of my tree peonies die back and return from the ground. The only growth from the ground for me this spring was from the herbaceous stock. I'll be removing those so that they don't kill the tree peonies.

I did have a Coral Terrace, that was damaged by a fallen large branch, and it never grew back from the ground.

Here are a few pics from this afternoon. The garden is blowing up with blooms, thanks to our 79-81 degree temps the last 3 days. Rain will start tonight, and continue tomorrow. It will cooling down over the next week, but no temps below 40.

Thanks Yan, PC made it through all the freezes and still bloomed! She is tough and beautiful.

Gary, that is too bad about your tree Peonies. They are absolutely beautiful! I have not had that problem with them dying to the ground.

Annette I know you are so pleased with all you have blooming! My First Arrival Itoh looks like it will be the first to bloom. The bud just has a slight bit of color showing.

I hope anyone getting hit with that Northern snow/ice storm stays safe!

Mieko2,

''My 2018 bloom season has begun. I believe this is 'Feng Dan Fen', the pink form of 'Feng Dan Bai' (White Phoenix).''

I wanted to get the White Phoenix that Cricket Hill had for sale, but I waited too long, and they sold out. Sighing!

Hi peonyplan,

The yellow tree peony was planted in spring 2014. I got it as a potted plant from 1 of our local nurseries. We've been wondering which tree peony it is?

LG and Mary, please be sure to share pictures of your blooms.

Gorgeous peonies everyone! So excited to see such great blooms activity from the warmer zones. I am glad to see that the freezes in the last month did not cause injury to the buds of your peonies. I am looking forward to seeing more blooms opening in the days to come.

That is a really pretty pic of PHC, Annette. I am excited to see my first bloom ever from it this year!
