LinneaL : Are any of the plants you can bring native perennial flowers? If so, can they take full sun and are under 24" tall? I just looked up the Columbine and Geranium and it looks like the varieties you posted aren't native to the Midwest. Is that correct?

An odd request: would anyone have access to old mini-blinds for labels?

I have been checking resale shops for some time, but have not found any. I will label what I bring to this swap in my usual way, but I could really use a longer lasting system for my own planting at home. I grow a lot of really similar-looking lilies, and really need to label them so I can ID them accurately when they are just emerging or when planting. Ideally, what I use will be mostly underground, as I don't want a forest of labels visible in the winter. I've been using popsicle sticks, but they will last only one winter and that's it. I just ordered a trial assortment of metal labels from Paw Paw Everlast, and those won't work either.

If anyone has any other ideas, I'd appreciate it.

Verdant Apt, I am no longer trying to grow natives except for woodland plants. The only native I know I have for sun is a Heliopsis. That gets taller than 24", though: more like 36". I suppose if you want to keep it short you could cut it down early, like you can for asters or phlox. But I have not tried that myself.

It's sort of like this one, but not exactly: https://www.bluestoneperennial...

It's not on my list to bring yet, but I was planning on bringing some once I know what's up. Let me know if you want it. Habit is loose and rangy, but it's a heavy bloomer. I grow it in a strip where the hose won't reach, so it has to survive on only rainfall. I got it from RolRod so he might know more than I do.

Jasmine, I have you for Primula: magenta with yellow center and Daffodils. Does it matter which colors for daffodils? I am not seeing my usual white one (Ice Follies) at all yet. Everything I have has white outer petals, but the cups vary in color.

Thank you jqsen and oerickson for the warm welcome.

Jasmine, I bought 2 packets this spring and they were direct sown in the ground. Nothing came up yet. Thank you for the offer.

LinneaL, I have native spring wildflowers. I got into it years ago. Ebay was my source way back.

LinneaL, Yes any daffs will be fine.

Pitimpinai, I have noted down. Apple mints are not up yet but they come up every year so they should.

sgardener, something might have eaten the seeds. I sow in cups and then plant later when they are big enough.

LinneaL : I'll pass on the Heliopsis. Thanks for the offer though.

pitimpinai : Thanks for the offer of the orchid. I sent you a private message (Tree mail). Nearly all of my orchids were rescues so I know how to rehabilitate unhappy orchids. Smiling

I will be bringing a box of plant books & magazines, and other assorted goodies.

My beautiful shrub roses developed Witches Broom, so I am re-doing the large area, and the shade area.

Hurray! Pitimpinai - will you be home on Wednesday or Friday? Would love to stop by. Any bulbs you have, I can plant at my Church. Put in over 100 last fall, and still could use more. Also, the White Bleeding Heart. Someone brought one last year, but I think it got lost in the shuffle and went bye-bye.

Ellen - Any Mouse Ear hosta's? Any other shade/lt. sun you want o get rid of.

Also bringing a bunch of tomato plants - Bella Russian, Mayo Delight, Spckled Roman, Lucky Cross, Little Lucky, Sleeping Lady (only a few), B/W Liam and Earl's Faux. Some will be limited, so if you really want one, I will put aside.

Thanks!
Mickey
