Good morning everyone, I hope yall had a blessed holiday!! Lovey dubby

I had a chance once it warmed up outside among other things to go look at my rock garden and i had to look around to make sure i was in the right place!! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing & no i left the hard stuff at the hospital.I love the way so many succulents change colors etc...

But, i have a question about my ice plants.I have 2 and i noticed some purple leaves in a few places, then discovered they were broken stems.
Thumb of 2014-01-16/jojoe/7d4d47 Thumb of 2014-01-16/jojoe/e25d3c

Is it normal for stems to break off like this or has something run through my bed and broke them and are they to far gone to be rooted?

Thumb of 2014-01-16/jojoe/6dc44d
You can see the new growth in the picture above,do the older stems die back maybe?

Hi, I think this is a natural phenomenon. The relaxation time, the plants will not grow. At the end of the shaft will be a little green. The third however, the picture you can see that the root drive so much. You'll see it will be nice bush. Rooting.

Just sit somewhere and enjoy what your garden looks like this time of year. Picking up a stray branch or dead leaf is work enough during the winter months. Just enjoy!

thanks for the compliments about my gbabies!! The one standing in the sink keeps asking for her own plants but when i tell her "this one & this one are yours" this is what happened (remember i found her standing in my kitchen sink)

Santa brought her own little hot pink gardening bag with hand tools. She actually took 2 plants out of their pots, you can see an aloe plant that was in very dry soil & rock, she then put them into another pot.She was a little short on soil but didn't break a stem and i only found 1 leaf on floor.

Back on topic: I wasn't going to put this here and i may need to put it on the other forum but i have a reason for showing this here.I found this in my rock garden which has a large rock border around it and that's where my ice plants are.

I didn't realize these things changed to blend into the surroundings.I scooped him up with a stick & picked up the 1st thing i seen. When i put him on the faded wood his colored changed.

Here's why i put this here: according to what i read ice plants are one of their favorite foods!! Crying

They are slugs. Both slugs and snails have tentacles, their eyes on on the very tips of the tentacles. : )
Bev is correct, snails carry their homes on their backs, slugs have no shell. Green Grin!
Here is a great link to read up a bit more on them. Don't forget to post your photos on this link, they are great. Thumbs up

So glad you posted here, reminds us all that we need to be dealing with this problem now, before they do major damage. Thanks for the reminder Jelinda. Group hug
